Eisenhower High School hosts Inland Empire Shoot Out

Football season has cometo a close, and basketballseason is back. Every year

the top teams in the Inland Em-pire participate in a Shoot-Out.This year’s Great Inland EmpireShoot-Out was held at Eisen-hower High School in Rialto. Itwas a two day event that startedon Friday, January 4th and endedon Saturday, January 5th. This year thirteen basketballteams from high schools acrossthe Inland Empire participated inthe Shoot-Out. These schools in-cluded Eisenhower, MartinLuther King, Summit A,B, Miller,Santiago, Etiwanda, Damien, St.Anthony, Carter, Citrus Valley,Canyon Springs and Cajon. Out of all the teams that partici-pated, there were only two girlsteam that were in the Shoot-Outthis year, and that was Eisen-

hower and Santiago’s girls bas-ketball teams. They playedagainst Santiago on Friday, butunfortunately they took a lostwith a score of 68 to 30. This putsEisenhower’s girls basketballteam at a 11-4 record. Other teams that played on Fri-day was Summit vs. A.B. Miller.A.B. Miller won and the finalscore was 70 to 52. Martin LutherKing also played against Eisen-hower on Friday with Eisenhowertaking the win with a final scoreof 65 to 62. On Saturday the first game wasCanyon Springs vs, Cajon withCajon beating out CanyonSprings for a final score of 64 to41. Citrus Valley won againstCarter with a score of 55 to 46.A.B. Miller scored another winagainst Rialto with a final score of69 to 46. Chino Hills also wonagainst St. Anthony with a scoreof 76 to 55. Damien won against

Eisenhower with a final score of60 to 42, and Etiwanda wonagainst Martin Luther King witha score of 59 to 32. In every game there is always aplayer that sticks out from the restand plays a stellar game. DamienHigh School Sophomore, JeremyHemsley scored 19 points, whichwas a big help in Damien’s winagainst Eisenhower. Damien wasable to come up in the second halfmaking this Damien’s fifthstraight win. Damien now holds arecord of 12-2. “I love playing them (Eisen-hower),” Damien coach MattDunn said. “They play so hardand are so tough here. It’s a greatexperience for our guys sincewe’re such a young team.”Eisenhower’s head coach SteveJohnson adds, “They played asolid defense and made it toughon us. We hung on in the first half,but not in the second.”
