Monsanto created a multi-million dollar facility, which houses 80 full-time employees including over
50 scientists with 20 Ph.D.’s on site. The facility houses two main laboratory groups, both of which are
focused on providing very high throughput analysis of seed and grain products. The crop analytics
laboratory group uses state of the art methods to screen Monsanto’s extensive soybean and corn germ-
plasm to identify and develop new products with improved protein, oil and starch for feed and food
applications. A second laboratory group supports DNA-based genetic analysis capabilities. The
laboratory is unparalleled in its capability rivaling the very largest laboratories in human genetic analysis.
