Synchronous & Asynchronous Learning

assignments● Rigorous Learning Goals

55% Synchronous Learning

● Minimum 25-minutes live-video instruction per class

What is asynchronous learning?Asynchronous learning - The teacher, the learner, and other participants are not engaged in the learning

process at the same time. There is no real-time interaction with other people.

An example of this would be pre-recorded videos or interactive practice of the previously taught

lesson. Scholars will be able to watch instructional videos on-demand.

The benefits of asynchronous learning:● Scholars can learn in their own time and schedule.

● Automated tasks reduce repetitive work and provides focus for essential learning skills.

● Less time in a classroom during school hours and deeper learner engagement.

What is the definition of synchronous learning?

Synchronous learning refers to a learning event in which scholars are engaged in learning at

the same time. WPA’s synchronous learning will occur daily with live personalized video

instruction lead by the teachers.

*There is real-interaction by scholars with their teachers.

The benefits of synchronous learning:

● Interaction between scholars and teachers.

● Exchange of knowledge and experience between classmates.

● Real-time feedback for the teacher and check for understanding by the scholars.

● Live personalized video happens daily on a fixed schedule for all scholars.
