Funny Bone ~ “One Plus One”
One day a teacher was
explaining the mathematical equation,
one plus one equals two. In front of
the class, she had one apple sitting on
her desk. When she added the second
apple to her desk, the class yelled out
the answer “two”.
One of her students was per-
plexed. He simply didn’t understand.
He raised his hand. When the teacher
called upon him, she was not prepared
for his baffling question.
The student looked at her and
shrugged his shoulders. “I don’t un-
derstand teacher. I can see how you
add the apples together on your desk
and they become two apples. But
when I add one wad of chewed gum
to another wad of chewed gum, I still
only have one piece of gum. How can
it be a different answer?”, he said.
The teacher was now the one
perplexed. After thinking for a mo-
ment, she shook her head in disbelief.
Never had she been stumped by this
simple equation. She looked at her
student, high fived him and proudly
awarded him an “A” for such creativ-
ity and imagination.
The moral of the story:
Life can throw you some curve-
balls but how you react to them makes
all the difference in the world.
Ah, The Adventures In Life
Caves have been explored throughout
history. They have been used for various
reasons such as shelter, burial, climate re-
search, religious sites or just for the pure
enjoyment of exploration.
Many caves have been converted into
“show” caves for the less adventurous types
where lighting, floors and other aids allow
the casual tourist to experience the thrills
with minimal inconvenience.
If you ever get the adventurous urge
and want to trek through some incredible
sites, these could be just what you are look-
ing for:

Got Foggy Headlights?
Did you know that foggy headlights
not only impacts your vehicle’s beauty
but is also a safety hazard?
Headlights play a vital role in your
daily travel. Over time, the sun’s ultravio-
let rays and other factors can give your
headlights a dull, foggy, hazy or yellow-
ish look.
Foggy headlights significantly re-
duce the amount of light beaming from
the headlights and reduces the light’s
focus on the road ahead. Another key
aspect of foggy headlights is that many
vehicles fail safety inspections if your
headlights are beyond a certain point of
clarity.
There are different methods to re-
store your headlights to their original
shine. With so many DIY products avail-
able to choose from, it can be a daunting
task to determine what is your best course
of action. What you need to be careful of
is just masking the problem temporarily
versus getting a permanent fix to the
overall problem. What you will find is
that most DIY products are basically a
lotion. They make everything shine for a
day, but tomorrow you may have to apply
some more.
Dealers and repair shops offer an af-
fordable headlight restoration option. Even
though they may differ in their techniques,
they usually start with a fine-grain sandpa-
per to remove a thin layer of the headlight’s
cover plastic. Then they can polish and pro-
tect the surface with a UV protection sealant
that will have a lasting effect.
TIP: Don’t let another
day go by without re-
storing your headlights.
After the restoration, you will be
amazed at the difference and wonder how in
the world you could ever see driving in the
dark before.

Thanks for the Kind Words Bob & Gayle Holcomb: “I for sure appreciate your above and beyond service. With Gail not driving it is extremely helpful to have help in getting our cars to you for repair. A BIG THANK YOU.” Deb Parker: “I had my car towed to Du Fresne's after hours on a Friday because they work on imports and were open on Saturday. The work was done on-time, as promised, and at the price I agreed to even though there was more work than expected. Very pleasant interactions.” Mahmood Khan: “My car had check engine light on so I took it in for diagnosis and repair. The diagnosis cost me a little more than I thought. The Nissan dealership in Beaverton charges a flat rate of $110 for diagnosis of "check engine" light. But I paid $150 for diagnosis here. That prompted me to double check the quoted price for fixing the purge valve, which was the diagnosis for the check engine light. Initially, Nissan dealership quotes that it would cost $200 to get it fixed, which was considerably lower. So I went back and forth between Dufresne's and Nissan dealership and eventually it became apparent that there Nissan dealership and Dufresne's were quoting for the two different purge valves (one under the hood and another in the back) So I eventually ended up getting the car serviced at Dufresne's because it was $40 cheaper than the dealership and during the back and forth, Dufresne' s staff were very helpful and courteous. I just wish their prices were a little more competitive and affordable.” John Medley: “Brought in my 2003 Dodge Stratus R/T for brake, rotor and caliper repairs, it had some real issues and they replaced the damaged parts. Cost was very reasonable, repair time was fast and the loaner car was a very nice touch.”

Ingredients: 2 heads of cauliflower, steamed 2 c. shredded Cheddar cheese 1 dozen + 2 large eggs 1 tsp. garlic powder 1 tsp. garlic powder 1 tsp. salt Fresh ground pepper to taste Chives, chopped (optional)
Directions: 1. Preheat oven to 375° F. Lightly grease a 12-cup muffin tin and set aside. 2. Drop the steamed cauliflower into the bowl of a food processor and pulse until
they start to resemble a fine grain. Pour the ground cauliflower onto paper towels and twist to wring out excess liquid. Do this up to three times until the cauli-flower comes out completely dry.
3. Transfer dry cauliflower to a large mixing bowl. Add cheddar cheese, garlic pow-der, salt and two eggs and stir to combine.
4. Distribute the mixture evenly throughout the muffin tins and use your fingers to press the mixture into the sides and bottom of each cup to form the nests. Bake the nests for 15-17 minutes until brown.
5. Add a couple bits of bacon to the bottom of each cup and crack an egg on top, without breaking the yolk. Bake for 7-8 minutes.
6. Sprinkle with chives and pepper to taste. Enjoy!

Beer and Honey Chicken Skewers is the Perfect Summer Grilling Recipe

¾ cup beer
⅓ cup honey
1 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
1 tsp Dijon mustard
¼ cup low sodium soy sauce
1 tbsp olive oil
4 chicken breasts, cut into small cubes
For the Side Salad

1/2 cup finely chopped shallots
(or onions)
1 clove garlic, minced

3 T red wine vinegar
1 T Dijon or whole grain mustard
1 teaspoon honey
Salt and pepper to taste
Directions: Cut chicken in small pieces, about 1½ inch cubes

cooked through.
To make the salad, use 3 tbsp of the olive oil and cook
shallots and garlic over medium-low heat until
soft.Whisk in beer, vinegar, mustard and honey. Re-
duce to low and simmer for 4-5 minutes. Remove from
heat, let cool. Add salt and pepper to taste. Toss with

Seeing The Positive Side
With so many things happening in your daily
grind, it’s easy to fall prey to negative thinking.
One small negative thought can easily escalate
into a huge, speeding bullet of ugliness. On the
contrary, one small positive thought has the po-
tential of blooming into a beautiful outcome.
While Positive Thinking Day is celebrated this
month, it’s a great time to retrain the mind and de
-stress from your daily grind. Here are just a few
easy ideas to get you started:
1. Smile. No matter what comes your way and
even if you have to fake it to make it, smiling
is one of the easiest and most contagious
ways of transforming your day.
2. Stop, Sit and Breathe. When your thoughts
are running in numerous directions, the
quickest way to ease your mind is to relax a
moment. Concentrate on your breathing and
just relax. It doesn’t have to take long. Just
take a quick moment to focus and you’ll be
on all set for the next thing that comes your
way.
3. Help someone. By taking the focus away
from yourself while doing something nice for
someone, it really has a way of getting your
mind off your “things” and make both of you
feel better.
Make a conscience effort of being positive today.
By doing so, you’ll open yourself up to better
solutions, creating a contagious “happy”
environment and ready to
face any challenge that
comes your way.
