Lesson 4. Piano Man Verse A. GO: For 10 points, Login immediately

and go to Piano I: Lessons: Lesson 4a. Use this PowerPoint Slide to learn each hand to the Verse to Piano Man.

LEARN: Use this PowerPoint Slide to learn Lesson 4a. You are now learning Piano Man by Billy Joel. Practice well for 10 points.

SHOW: At your own speed, play the chords to Verses A and B ONE HAND AT A TIME. =10pts.

4a. Watch Billy Joel perform Piano Man, then move to the next slide to begin learning.

4a. The two Parts of the Verse- A and B

The Verse of Piano Man has two parts, an A and a B.

You will have just 4 days to Master Verses A and B so work hard. You can do this!

4a. Read this first and make sure you understand each concept. If you don’t, raise your hand. I’ll help.

A note is one key on the piano. A chord is three keys played at the same

time. In the Verse, the left hand plays single

notes while the right hand follows with two chords right after.

The Verse of the song will help you develop using your left hand vs. your right hand.

4a. Make sure you know your finger numbers. If you don’t, you could learn this incorrectly.

Once your instructor has seen your progress, go back and practice Verse A with just the right hand. Then do it with just the left. Then put them both together.

Raise your hand to show the instructor what you’ve learned for a grade. Keep up the good work!

Verses A and B completed!

In your Piano Journal: Title it Piano Man Verses A and B. Answer the questions below:

more accurately? How did your nerves affect your playing of the test?

Try practicing the Verses along with the recordings found in the Piano Man Folder.

Instructor Notes:

2014-2015 Go, Learn, Show still ambiguous especially 4c using Finale. May have been a week too early. Could add C Scale and songs they

know using the staff. Alfred’s wasn’t ready 2 years in a row now. Cut it?

Open House- no 8th period. Lots of students sick! A few new students.
