DESCRIPTION

Van Gogh wrote in his letters to brother Theo that Japanese or Asian art was a major influence on his work. but he died before he was able to gain a real knowledge of the painting technique. what he knew he learned from Japanese prints he collected. if he had not died so early, would his art look like these? would he have painted in a traditional style and would his dream to paint in folding albums have been realized? I had the idea to paint Van Gogh's paintings in the style that had such a hold on him and influence on his art....enjoy.

LOOKING AT VAN GOGH MY WAY album by debbi saccomanno chan

Van Gogh wrote in his letters that much of his work was influenced by Japanese or Asian art.he was also interested in learning more about the painting method and styles. he had several Japanese prints in his personal art collection and it was from these prints that he would study. he had an idea and wished to paint in folding al-bums like the ones i have become so passionate about. Van Gogh died before these ideas and studies could fully bloom and this gave me the idea to paint VAN GOGH MY WAY and LOOKING AT VAN GOGH MY WAY albums. if Van Gogh had painted in an Asian traditional style would they look a bit like these? What do you think?
