Pastor’s Corner Dear Parishioners,
One Life LA is coming up next Saturday, January
21. Come and stand in solidarity with other believers to
promote a positive pro-life culture. Again, the event
begins at La Placita downtown at NOON. The event
concludes at 4 pm and then there is a beautiful Mass at the
cathedral at 5 pm. See Onelifela.org for more information.
As I included in this column last week, please know that we are here to
provide help to those who feel that they have no choice but abortion. Anyone
who has had an abortion can find healing and forgiveness in the church.
Remember: Forgiveness is available after abortion. If you are pregnant and in
need, we are here to help.
Our Winter Dinner Dance is only two weeks away! It takes place on
Saturday, January 28th at 6 pm! Great DJ and sound system. Food, drinks,
dancing and more. Our nominees for Mr. and Mrs. Holy Family to be announced
at the Winter Dinner Dance are Manuel and Susana Moreno, Tess and Tim
Travis and Jenny and Denny Cagampan. Tickets are only $50 and may be
purchased at the parish office. This is your once in a lifetime opportunity to
dance with Fr. Xavier!!
Our Parish Mission is coming up in March. It will be March 13-15 with
Father Augustino Torres, C.F.R. He is a dynamic young priest and a member of
the Franciscan Friars of the Renewal (the order of the late Father Benedict
Groeschel) out of the Bronx in New York. We hope you can take advantage of
his visit to Holy Family. Spread the good word!!
“Supplying nutrition and hydration via tube is medical treatment. You
may refuse such medical treatment if it is, or becomes, more burdensome than
beneficial. Over the years, much public press has been given to questions about
removing feeding tubes (but not about withholding the treatment). In many
cases, the situation was used for political advancement of an individual seeking
public office. What was at issue was not the best interest of the patient, but a
candidate’s political interest.” (Source: “Importance of Estate Planning” by Sister
Mary Traupman, C.D.P. from The Priest magazine, November 2016 issue.)
Did you know? Our monthly bill for insurance and assessment is over
$18,000. Where does this money come from to enable us to pay the bill each
month? It comes from the offertory collection. It is very expensive to operate a
parish, and we are very grateful to those of you who really are generous in your
sacrificial giving. “Give generously to him and do so without a grudging heart;
then because of this the Lord your God will bless you in all your work and in
everything you put your hand to.” Deuteronomy 15:10
Peace and love,
Fr. Jim Bevacqua, Pastor

HAVE YOU BEEN PUTTING OFF ESTABLISHING A WILL AND OTHER IMPORTANT DOCUMENTS AS
PART OF YOUR ESTATE PLAN?
You are not alone! On Thursday, February 2, 2017, Holy Family will offer a free, informational seminar to explain the
process of Catholic estate and personal financial planning. The seminars will be held at 1:00 p.m. and at 7:00 p.m.
Each seminar lasts approximately 90 minutes with light refreshments. Representatives from the Archdiocese of Los
Angeles and from Holy Family’s Planned Giving and Stewardship Committees have teamed up to discuss these
important topics:
Catholic teachings on end-of-life decisions (advance healthcare directives, proper planning, funerals)
The importance for individuals and couples to have a Will and other critical documents in place
Vehicles and tools for effective financial planning and charitable giving
Please RSVP to Deacon Ron Baker at (818) 247-2222 X552 or dn-baker@hfglendale.org to reserve a seat. The 1:00
p.m. session will be held in the Life Teen House and the 7:00 p.m. session will be held in the High School auditorium.

Winter Dinner Dance Candidates
6 January 15, 2017
Denny Cagampan III and Jenny Cagampan have been Holy Family parishioners
since 1987. They were married at Holy Family and were very active parents at
Holy Family Grade School during their children’s education from 1993-2007.
Their involvement included the Board, computerized service hour tracking,
Casino Night, dance performances, and the choir's historic First Trip to Rome. At
present, Jenny is a Eucharistic Minister and Denny is on the Vocations
Committee and Fil-Am Council. Both are members of the Our Lady of Fatima
Rosary Group. Their children are now working adults based in San Francisco
(Nicole) and San Diego (Caitlin).
Denny and Jenny are supporters of the Filipino American Symphony Orchestra
(FASO), Filipino Children’s Foundation, Mary Queen of Heaven, Saint John’s
Seminary, the Carmelite Sisters, Sister of Social Service, Puso Nang Carmelo,
Dominican Sisters and various scholarship funds. Jenny also volunteers for the
homeless at Ascencia.
Denny is a Principal at Wittler Young Co., Inc., a Heating Ventilating and Air
Conditioning Engineering and Contracting firm. He is also with the La Salle
Alumni Association of Southern California and Serra Club of Glendale/Burbank/Pasadena.
Jenny dedicated her years raising their children and now that they are living on their own, she has gone back to a
travel agency and is also associated with an antique jewelry business. It was at a Cotillion dance for a friend’s debut
when Denny attractively saw Jenny for the first time. Denny vowed to make her his dancing partner and his lifetime
partner… 30 years and counting.
Manuel and Susana Moreno have belonged to the Holy Family Parish for more than 10
years. They are in the ministry of Guadalupanas. Manuel has been an usher & Susana
with the Eucharistic Ministry. They have been married for 45 years with 4 children and 5
grandsons. They are so happy to belong to Holy Family.
Tess and Tim Valino are newly married as
of 4 years ago. Tess has been a
parishioner of Holy Family for 19
years. Her son Sam graduated from Holy
Family Grade School. She has two nieces
(Irish and Trisha) who also graduated from
the school. Currently, her nephew and
niece, Joshua and Samantha are in 2nd
and 4th grades at the school. Tess has
been an EMHC for many years. She is a
Divine Mercy member as well. In the past
she served as secretary for the Winter
Dinner Dance committee. She has also
been a long active member of the "Handmaids of the Lord", a women’s
group since 1998, a ministry where her faith and spiritual growth
prosper. They want to thank Tess’ family and her 4 sisters and one
brother and one son for their love and support.

Celebración de la Vírgen de Guadalupe
December 12, 2016
No solo
especifiquen a quien estan apoyando. Mil gracias.
Nuestra proxima procession y reunion sera el dia domingo 29 de Enero, 2017 a las 2:00 de la tarde en el auditorio.
(4to domingo del mes)
Que Dios y la Santisima Virgen los bendigan.
