Information text
What is it? An information text is
an informative piece of writing that
is true information. People read
information texts to find out about
a specific topic that they would like
to learn more about. When you
are writing an information text you
do not copy sentences straight off
the Internet because that's called
plagiarism . When you are looking
for information on the internet you
can only copy 2 or 3 words and
that's it. If you do anymore words
then it becomes plagiarism.
Why I chose it?
I have chosen my information text about netball because it is the best piece of writing I have done this year. I am very proud of how much information I have put into it. I also chose it because it is completed, colourful and informative.
What did I have to do?
In his writing task I had to plan what to write about first then write a little bit about my topic and what your going to have in your text. Next I did a draft where I had to write my information text and add in all the information that I'm going to have in it. Then I had to edit, where I have to fix all my spelling mistakes and punctuation in my text, revise where you take out old and boring words/sentences and replace them for better ones. Last was publishing where I write all my information on coloured paper or lined paper and reveal the finished product.
E.gThis is my
finished
information text.
Why am I proud of it?
I am proud of my information text because it has colour printed photos, at least 2 paragraphs on each page of information. This information text explains almost everything you need to know about netball.
Writing reflection
I think I have done great in writing because I have completed a well planed out informative information text about netball. It has very useful information about the positions, rules of the game and how to play. I want to work on my punctuation and grammar so I can make my writing make more sense.
Obesity What is it? Obesity is when you are grossly overweight and don't do enough exercise. Obesity causes heart disease , heart attacks, strokes, diabetes and even more. You can stop yourself from being obese by eating healthy foods and exercising.
Why I chose it?
I chose it because I did really well in
this presentation and it has beautiful
and engaging photos, it has pages and
pages filled with information about
obesity and why it's important.

What did I have to do?
Students in grade 6 were challenged to raise awareness or do something like a Friday fitness club to help stop worldwide obesity. We had to create a timeline to show what we did in each inquiry session and the steps to creating our great presentation.
Why am I proud of it?
I am proud of it because it tells you
about what you should be eating also
how much exercise you should do a
day/week. It tells you the good and
bad foods and why it's important to
stay healthy.
Inquiry reflection
I think I have done really good in
inquiry because we have created a
informative engaging presentation
that students would be very excited
to read and we have finished this
presentation to the best of our
ability.
Personal achievement Camp. At camp I got to finally
experience the giant swing and
I'm proud of myself for going
almost to the top it was so fun.
Each student got strapped in
one at a time going up as the
students at the bottom pulled
the rope to raise them to the
top. You pull the string and then
you drop. I learnt to not be
scared of these fun experiences
because even though it looks
scary it actually isnt.
Learning Goals
Math. I am hoping to get better at 9 and 6 times tables because I know
them but I just don't know them off by heart. I also want to remember the
difference between volume and capacity.
Reading. To pay more attention to the important parts of a text and to make
my summaries better. Also I want to read different types of texts so I can
be more interested in different types of genres.
Writing. To practice my cursive writing so I can improve on my handwriting
and also to correct my punctuation and spelling better.
Inquiry. To add more photos into my presentations to make them more
engaging and entertaining. To write more information on my draft for my
presentation so I can add it.
Personal goal
Sport. To try completing one full lap of the oval without stopping. Also when starting a race, not to use all of my energy and speed at the start because otherwise I won't have power for the rest of the race.
What did I improve in?
I improved the most in writing
because I have learnt how to
make my information text better
and more interesting. I have also
remembered to add punctuation
into my sentences.
Learning reflections
Math. I learnt how to work out BODMAS problems using the BODMAS operations
E.G B for brackets O for order D for division M for multiplication A for addition and S
for subtracting.
Inquiry. I learnt a lot of things about obesity and it's helped me understand what
obesity does to you're body. I learnt that obesity can cause heart attacks, strokes,
diabetes and more.
Reading. I have learnt how to include all the important parts of the text into my
summary rather then all the interesting parts. This is because in a summary you are
not supposed to write every single detail into the text, you only need to write the
important parts and most importantly you do not give away the ending in a summary
Writing. I learnt how to write a better and informative information text, that has tons of
hooking photos and useful information that can help anyone be a fantastic netball
player.
