unexplored; only a small part of the rugged park is explored by staff and

researcher. ……

Aaranyak was invited by the Namdapha Authority to conduct this camera

trapping exercise. ……

We started the camera trapping during 3rd February-29th March 2012.

……The entire management backed and

supported the exercise.

ProgrammeActivities involved

• Identification of Animal Trails and Paths

• Identification of suitable camera locations

• Fixing cameras• Monitoring cameras every

4-10 days.• Checking pictures, replacing

batteries. • Managing data

Technology

Camera with Motion Sensors

• The camera senses movement of animals and takes digital pictures using state-of-the art technology packed in a small box.

The study area was divided into 2x2 km small grids and 1-3 cameras were placed in each grid.

One camp was attacked by some Lishu Miscreants

Teams were shot at twice by poachers

22 Memory cards (with data) robbed by miscreants
