There are two PearsonAccess sites:

PARCC Resource – parcc.pearson.com

Use this site – a great resource

39

Technology Setup

• A new TestNav app for laptops and desktops is now available

• Check the system requirements before trying to install/use

• Can use this app instead of a web browser

• Has its own Java version• If a desktop or laptop will use a

web browser for testing, Google Chrome web browser can no longer be used (not an issue for Chromebooks)

• New apps for iPads, Android devices and Chromebooks are available

40

Technology Setup

• Proctor Caching should be used!• Especially for accommodated

forms (text to speech, ASL videos, etc.)

• Millions of students will be testing• Not just about your bandwidth…

41

Test Preparation

PearsonAccess Student Data

• In PearsonAccessNext -Not required ≠ Not important• Required = bare minimum student information that

is needed in order to have a student begin testing as quickly as possible.

• Data that is “not required” should be entered later• This data is important - should not be left blank

• All of the necessary fields were submitted for the NJSMART submission• Export Student and User files as a backup• Make a copy of the backups and use the copy to

edit and upload changes into PearsonAccess

48

PearsonAccess Student Data

• If the district’s Student Information System will be used to generate student files that will be uploaded into PearsonAccess in order to modify what NJDOE uploaded, please ensure that the file has all of the necessary information – not just “required”

• The Testing District/School fields and the Responsible District/School fields need to be completed for each student – impacts where student reports are sent• The Testing and Responsible District codes are six

digits: two digit county and four digit district code• School codes are three digits• Be careful of leading zeros in Excel

• Leading zeros can disappear…

49

PearsonAccess Student Data

State fields in the PearsonAccess student file need to be completed – confirm this when student records are updated – see NJSMART PARCC Handbook for details

Clean-up Tasks

• After testing, there are some clean-up tasks• For paper tests:

• Districts need to address rejected student tests• As tests are being scanned, those tests that

cannot be matched to a student in PearsonAccess will be rejected

• The district needs to review and fix these rejections

• Be careful what is submitted for scoring• Submitting an answer sheet that is crossed out

or blank is an issue

51

Clean-up Tasks

• For online tests:• Need to close out open sessions

• Students with a test status of Active, Exited, Resumed and Resumed Upload need to be closed

• For both paper and online tests:• Confirm all of the necessary student information in

the student record is present and accurate

Technology Support

• Contact Pearson support before contacting NJDOE for technology support• Log the name of the person with whom you are

speaking at Pearson support• Get a support ticket number • Note the date and time

• If Pearson support is not addressing the issue, then contact the NJDOE Assessment Office

• The ability of NJDOE to escalate an issue with Pearson support is greatly assisted by having the name of the Pearson support person, the ticket number, date, time, and details of the issue
