Welcome and Announcements
Prayer
Prelude “Pieces en Sol Majeur et Sol Mineur” Cesar Franck Call to Worship
Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord from the heavens; praise God in the heights! All the shining stars praise you, O God, for you commanded and they were created. Praise the Lord from the earth, young men and women alike, old and young together! Let everyone praise the name of the Lord, for your glory is above earth and heaven. Let us worship God!
Hymn #173 “O Come, All Ye Faithful” (see insert) Dick Karschner arr. Laskey
Prayer of Confession God of compassion, have mercy upon us as we make our confession. The year is soon spent. What we ought to have done still awaits action, while we commit acts not in accord with your will. We think of ourselves before others; we serve our own needs. We keep for ourselves the gifts of your graciousness. The new life you offer is not yet proclaimed in the land. Forgive us our sins and make us more faithful. Help us to use our time wisely as we follow Christ’s way.
Time of Personal Confession
Assurance of Pardon
Special Music “Sheep May Safely Graze” Bach – arr. Biggs
Scripture Luke 2:22-40 (NRSV)
22 When the time came for their purification according to the law of Moses, they brought him up to Jerusalem to present him to the Lord 23 (as it is written in the law of the Lord, “Every firstborn male shall be designated as holy to the Lord”), 24 and they offered a sacrifice according to what is stated in the law of the Lord, “a pair of turtledoves or two young pigeons.” 25 Now there was a man in Jerusalem whose name was Simeon; this man was righteous and devout, looking forward to the consolation of Israel, and the Holy Spirit rested on him. 26 It had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he would not see death before he had seen the Lord’s Messiah. 27 Guided by the Spirit, Simeon came into the temple; and when the parents brought in the child Jesus, to do for him what was customary under the law, 28 Simeon took him in his arms and praised God, saying, 29 “Master, now you are dismissing your servant in peace, according to your word; 30 for my eyes have seen your salvation, 31 which you have prepared in the presence of all peoples, 32 a light for revelation to the Gentiles and for glory to your people Israel.” 33 And the child’s father and mother were amazed at what was being said about him. 34 Then Simeon blessed them and said to his mother Mary, “This child is destined for the falling and the rising of many in Israel, and to be a sign that will be opposed 35 so that the inner thoughts of many will be revealed—and a sword will pierce your own soul too.” 36 There was also a prophet, Anna the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Asher. She was of a great age, having lived with her husband seven years after her marriage, 37 then as a widow to the age of eighty-four. She never left the temple but worshiped there with fasting and prayer night and day. 38 At that moment she came, and began to praise God and to speak about the child to all who were looking for the redemption of Jerusalem. 39 When they had finished everything required by the law of the Lord, they returned to Galilee, to their own town of Nazareth. 40 The child grew and became strong, filled with wisdom; and the favor of God was upon him.

Pastoral Prayer and the Lord’s Prayer Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil:
For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.
Call to Offering
Offertory “Finding Grace” Richard A. Williamson *Doxology
Praise God, from whom all blessings flow;
Praise Him, all creatures here below;
Praise Him above, ye Heavenly Host;
Praise Father, Son and Holy Ghost. Amen.
*Prayer of Dedication
Eternal God of redemption, you bless your creation and it springs forth with beauty. You judge your people with righteousness and new life abounds. We bring you now the fruits of our labors. Bless the work of our hands, so that what we do reflects the radiance of your love. Fill us with your Holy Spirit; so that what we say proclaims to all people the new hope in Jesus.

Considerations for our current in-person worship service:
o Please stay at home if you don’t feel well.
o Everyone age 2 and older should wear your mask
throughout the service and in the church building.
o Social distancing continues to be practiced. Members
of the same household may sit together.
o Please do not congregate together before/after
services.
o Hand sanitizer, wipes and masks are available.
o Only 1st floor restrooms of the educational wing are
available. There is a handicapped accessible restroom
that includes a baby changing table, if needed.
CCTV – We broadcast the Sunday worship service on closed
circuit televisions in both the Nursery and the Adult Sunday
School Room.
There are two, large yellow and green dumpsters in the back
corner of the parking lot for recycling your office paper and
newspaper. The church benefits from these collections, along
with helping the environment.
In case of a medical emergency, there is an AED (Automated
External Defibrillator) located in the rear of the Sanctuary, in
the alcove where the sound system and mailboxes are
located.
