Our pre-Valentine dinner took us to downtown Fort Worth for Northern

Italian cuisine. Taverna is a neighborhood restaurant offering both authentic Italian fare and contemporary cutting-edge Italian cuisine in a casual, relaxed atmosphere. Twenty-four members, many dressed in fes-tive red to mark the occasion, enjoyed ex-

cellent risottos, ultra-thin, handmade pizza, and traditional Italian dishes, accompanied by great wines and capped with rich desserts. Suffice to say, no one was on a strict diet this evening as everyone enjoyed a full, satisfying and elegant dinner. Service by the wait staff assigned to us was terrific. Adding a nice touch, the ladies were each given a long-stem rose. Eve-ryone went home with Valentine mugs, which Karen Vaughn lovingly decorated and stuffed with chocolate truffles. The food, service and com-pany in this upscale but casual venue left nothing to be desired.
