The Value Lifecycle Management session was based on our 2019 Financial data and calculated benefits by adjusting the KPI’s in a top-down approach. Uncertainty on basis for KPI (are companies comparable to Vår Energi) and if KPI would in fact improve - renders results “not meaningful”.
A recycle with SAP is possible (e.g. to exclude Partner Operated Assets), but more work required to produce realistic bottom-up based, tangible and explicable benefits

Summary
• S/4HANA Value Starter Program very useful to provide an overview of your current system and a great starting-point for further analysis• Investigate the BSR Recommendations • Use the BSR to investigate process concerns • Consider the Custom programs not part of analysis; skews the report (a pre-
mapping to LoB before Program would have been useful)• Legacy company codes were not excluded impacting analysis - so should have
had the option to select relevant CoCodes / Controlling Area• Update the Transformation Navigator to tailor your “to-be” landscape• Great support from the SAP facilitators conducting the Program
• Points to consider• The VLM tool uses Industry KPI’s to project potential financial benefits, however
(in our case) these are not meaningful and cannot be taken at face value • The Program does not give to a “ready to go” plan – its value lies in what you
can make use of this in further planning, review options for new functionality, and start drafting your roadmap to S/4HANA

SAP Readiness Check for SAP S/4HANA• Executed and available for Vår SAP – not in scope for S/4HANA Value Starter Program• With SAP Readiness Check for SAP S/4HANA, SAP provides an overview of the most important aspects
for an SAP ERP 6.x system conversion to SAP S/4HANA. Converting a system to SAP S/4HANA requires a migration to SAP HANA (if not currently running on SAP HANA), and the installation of new simplified code and adaptions.
• SAP S/4HANA is SAP’s next-generation business suite. It is not the legal successor of any SAP Business Suite product. SAP S/4HANA is a new product built on SAP HANA, which is one of the most advanced in-memory platforms today. To build SAP S/4HANA, SAP has reimagined solutions for modern business processes in an increasingly mobile and digitized world. SAP S/4HANA delivers massive simplifications and innovations, deliverable on one data structure and architecture moving forward.
• A comprehensive overview of all simplifications for SAP S/4HANA, compared to SAP Business Suite products, are captured in the Simplification List for SAP S/4HANA. For a given customer, only a limited number of simplification items from this extensive list are applicable.
• To provide customers with an overview of the implications when converting a specific SAP ERP 6.0 to SAP S/4HANA, SAP offers SAP Readiness Check for SAP S/4HANA.
• This feature scope description shows you which features are available to help the customers' architects and SAP basis administrators preparing for SAP Readiness Check execution.

Draft RFQObjective
To provide a decision gate review package that can be used in a management Endorsement meeting to proceed with the planning and scoping of an S/4HANA project, with sufficient detail on strategies, scope, effort, schedule for management to approve.
Scope of Work1) An assessment of the “as-is” situation for Vår Energi SAP2) Verify new capabilities in S/4HANA, and based on current business processes requirements,
determine new scenarios to be implemented. 3) Study should review strategies for the implementation of
a) Dual currency & parallel accountingb) DOA approval structures and flowsc) Areas for use of Recommendation engines and/or RPA
d) VIRSA SOD controls & roles enhancements
4) In cooperation with Vår Energi update the SAP Transformation Navigator Product Map, and describe the Benefit Case for each new product, alternatively by using Vendor own tools.
5) In cooperation with Vår Energi investigate possible business process improvements using SAP’s Business Process Improvement (BPI) tool, alternatively by using Vendor own tools.
6) In cooperation with Vår Energi review the changes of existing capabilities using Feature Scope Description (a 700 pages document provided by SAP). It is critical to provide at least a broad assessment of key custom functionality for which there is no equivalent in S/4HANA
7) Explore SAP On-promise vs. Cloud Solutions to sketch the best roadmap for the future8) Suggest an implementation schedule and costs9) Develop an overall understanding of benefits
Timing
Response to RFQ should be returned within three weeks of receipt of this RFQ. Vår Energi will award the study by …. The study should not take longer than 8-12 weeks, and should deliver its reports by ……
Background
In January 2020 Vår Energi has completed an SAP migration project to merge data and key functionalities from two ECC 6 systems into a single instance. The target system was the heritage ENI Norge SAP system, and master data, open items and critical historical data was imported from the heritage Point SAP system. Many custom Point Resources SAP tools, reports and other functionalities were also set up in the target system. The project was led by ENI ICT (Milan) with ATOS Italy as the technical partner.
During 2020 the processes and system have been upgraded, optimized, and fine-tuned to align with the objective of One Company, One System.
The business is now considering an upgrade S/4HANA and see such a project essential for several reasons:
I. As an enabler Vår Energy Digital Strategy - SAP is the “core” administrative system, and as such the eco-system for Digitalization and Automation. This will become the new Digital Platform, our business functions will have hundreds of Fiori apps, multiple Recommendation Engines, and other technologies available. We expect data & transparency will be greatly improved, e.g. through SAP analytics cloud.
II. We have merged 3 companies onto one common SAP platform, but all business processes have not yet been aligned. A project will bring all business together to agree and align on common best practices.
III. We have a long list of SAP enhancement requirements, many of which could be covered as part of the project instead of an extensive program of enhancements. There are also key functionalities requested by business that would not be would be feasible without a new system, e.g. implementation of dual currency, optimization of plant organization and accounting structures, and of approval flows.
In February Vår Energi completed the S/4HANA Value Starter program, conducted by SAP. This has provided a starting point for building a business case for implementing S/4HANA.
