Section 16915 Flow Monitoring

1. General

1.1 Description

.1 For all instrumentation, the Equipment Supplier shall furnish all labour, materials,

components, and programming, and shall provide all design, assembly, and start-up

services required to provide a complete and workable system.

.2 Provide assistance to the Owner and Engineer for the testing and commissioning of the

instrumentation.

1.2 Operation and Maintenance Manuals

.1 Provided for insertion within the general project operation and maintenance manuals shall

be at least four copies of original equipment manufacturer printed manuals. These shall

include at a minimum:

Full User Manual

Installation Instructions

Full list of Parameters/Programming Manual

Troubleshooting/Maintenance Manual

.2 A complete list of all parameters programmed into each instrument at the end of

commissioning shall be provided for insertion within the general project operation and

maintenance manuals. These lists shall be clearly sorted by instrument tag number.

1.3 Submittals

.1 Submit shop drawings for all flowmeters and flow switches providing full details on make,

pipe size, measuring range, instrumentation tag number, full model number (with options

clearly indicated), dimensions, wiring and power requirements, digital communication

addresses (Modbus, Profibus, Foundation Fieldbus, etc.), and all installation accessories

for each flowmeter.

.2 Shop drawing submittals for flowmeters shall be clearly identified by tag number. For

example: “50mm Flowmeter A - FIT-123” and “150mm Flowmeter B – FIT-456”. Like

flowmeters can be combined for example: “100mm Flowmeter C – FIT-123/FIT-456/FIT-

789”.

2. Products

2.1 Magnetic Flowmeter (Chlorine Flow Measurement)

.1 Flowmeter shall be magnetic type and suitable for 0.8 Sodium Hypochlorite solution water

flow.

.2 Acceptable flow range shall be from 0.1 to 1350 L/Hr, with meter accuracy of within 2%

of scale down to 40 L/hr.

.3 The sensor tube shall inherently meet NEMA 4X requirements and be provided with two

316L grounding rings, complete with straps. Grounding ring thickness shall be as follows:

Up to and including 300mm: minimum 3.2mm thick

Above 300mm: minimum 6.4mm thick

.4 Provided with the meter shall be a remote wall mounted transmitter with display board

capable of providing bidirectional rate of flow and totalization. Operating parameters and

units of measurement shall be operator definable.

.5 Flowmeter should support PROFIBUS PA protocol.

.6 Flowmeters and controller shall be:

- Siemens SITRANS F M MAGFLOW Mag 1100 7ME6110-1RA20-2AA2 +

FDK-083G0686 (Grounding rings)

- Siemens MAG 6000 7ME6920-1AA10-1AA0 + FDK-085U0236 (Profibus PA

Module) + FDK-083F3058 (Cable) + FDK-085U1053 (Wall mounting unit) +

FDK-085U0220 (USM Potting Kit) as available from EB Horsman & Son (1-

888-467-7626)

2.2 Ultrasonic Flowmeter (UV Flow Measurement)

.1 Flowmeter shall be four channel, includes two sensors, shall be capable of expanding to

four sensors if required, and clamp-on ultrasonic type with mounting hardware for UV

flow measurement.

.2 Acceptable flow velocity range shall be from 0.3 to 12 m/s, with meter accuracy of within

0.5% of scale down to 0.3 m/s.

.3 The flowmeter shall be powered by 120VAC. The 4-20mA flow output shall be wired to

the Plant PLC.

.4 The enclosure shall inherently meet NEMA 4x/IP65 requirements, and be provided with

mounting hardware for 1200mm diameter pipe line.

.5 Provided with the meter shall be an integral transmitter with display board capable of

providing bidirectional rate of flow and totalization. Operating parameters and units of

measurement shall be operator definable.

.6 Meters located in areas where accessibility is limited or the area has potential for flooding

shall have a remote transmitter with display board capable of providing bidirectional rate

of flow and totalization. Operating parameters and units of measurement shall be operator

definable. Remote transmitters shall be installed at locations shown on drawings.

.7 Flowmeters shall be:

- Siemens SITRANS FUS 1010 Standard Clamp-on (7ME3530-9CA60-0QA1-

ZH1A-K01-K01-T01-Y19) as available from EB Horsman & Son (1888-467-
