    1. Introduction

The competitive global business environment calls for thedeployment of various levels of strategies and technologies onenterprise and their projects. The successful delivery oflarge-scale construction projects require significant planning, design, construction and project management efforts. BuildingInformation Modeling (BIM) is an enabling technology and theprocesses which can significantly transform the project deliveryprocess and add value across the whole project lifecycle.

Nowadays, the technology side of BIM is becoming morepopular and mature in different sectors of the constructionindustry. However, the proper understanding of change inbusiness processes and practices that come with BIM implemen-tation, along with the project management aspect of BIM, is still ayoung area of academic inquiry.

Without the proper studies of the associated project manage-ment processes and managerial side of BIM, the successfuladoption of BIM on projects, particularly on large-scale andcapital intensive projects is going to be extremely challenging. Inthis regard, this special issue focusing on project management oflarge-scale construction projects in relation to BIM is timely andmentioned agenda by incorporating BIM in the managementof large-scale projects. We invite scholars to submit innovative
