‘Buckle Bear’ Last week we had a visit from Buckle Bear and a road Safety Officer, organised by the AlburyCity Council. They provided information to students and parents regarding seatbelts and child restraints. Further information on these topics can be found on the ‘Roads and Traffic Authority’ website (www.rta.nsw.gov.au).

I will be attending a course in
Wagga over the next couple of days
in the area of Growth Coaching.
Coaching has a long history in
education, but its scope has
increased considerably in recent
year. Its research base is growing,
as are the theoretical underpinnings
which inform practice.
Thankyou to the Lindner family for
tidying up our school grounds.
Your help is appreciated.
Have a great week.

St Anne’s Newsletter
Dear Parents, Caregivers and
Students,
We had Buckle Bear visit our
school last Tuesday afternoon. The
message was to make sure that all
children are buckled safely and
appropriately into cars. The safety
of children is always very
important and we appreciate your
support in all the areas of safety in
picking up and dropping off chil-
dren each day.
We often hear the term used in ed-
ucation of ‘Explicit Teaching’.
What does this mean? Explicit
instruction is where the teacher
explicitly conveys to the student
the purpose, process and expected
outcomes of any task or assess-
ment. Teachers will identify where
this fits into their pedagogical
framework.
Explicit teaching consists of-
1. Specific learning outcomes
2. Scaffolding the task
3. A clear, realistic time frame
for students to complete their
work
Professional Development
Ten teachers from the Diocese will
be visiting our school on Monday,
3rd March to attend early numera-
cy, assessment training. These
teachers will be working with
some of our Year 1 and year 3 chil-
dren.

ICT NEWS (‘Information & Communication Technology’)
Over the past few weeks I have been
working in classes with our Year 3-6
students teaching them more about
Google Docs. They have been very
creative and many wonderful projects
have been shared! We will continue to
work on our skills in the coming weeks
as teachers start to share their home-
work tasks using these tools.
If your child is having any difficulties logging on at
home, feel free to email me on-
grimmerk@ww.catholic.edu.au
and I will endeavour to find a solution.
Something that has come to my attention is
that many of our students appear to be using
an App called ‘kik messenger’ outside of
school.
Some information for your consideration -
The Kik website states - Teens between 13 and 18 years old need to have permission from their parent
or legal guardian before they create a Kik account
and start using Kik Messenger. Children under the
age of 13 are prohibited from having a Kik account
by the Kik Terms of Service.
It’s worth reading an article in the Sydney Morning Herald that describes Kik messenger as ''the number
one social media problem involving teenagers''.
