MERCY MOMENTS BY: DEACON TOM DRISCOLL
For the next several weeks, we will review the Psalms of Mercy. We are doing so at the suggestion of Pope Francis, who wrote that: “In a special way the Psalms bring to the fore the grandeur of his merciful action…. The mercy of God is not an abstract idea, but a concrete reality with which he reveals his love as that of a father or a mother, moved to the very depths out of love for their child.” (Misericordiae Vultus, 6.) Pope Francis appreciates this because the Psalms speak to the heart of our human condition, in all its simplicity, complexity, intimacy and messiness, and our relation to and reliance upon a faithful and merciful God while we live: birth, death, suffering, prosperity, war, peace, loneliness, success, failure, abandonment, the cosmos and history. Within these timeless encounters with the God of the living, there are ten which particularly concern Divine Mercy. The Psalms of Mercy are Psalms 25, 41, 42, 43, 51, 57, 92, 103, 119, and 136. Each week, we will discuss one of the Psalms of Mercy. Each review though, is no substitute for personally encountering each of the Psalms. Please read, or better yet, meditate upon each to experience God’s revelation for yourself. The review is intended only to assist your understanding and growth in mercy, not to substitute for it.
Mercy Challenge for the week: Turn your phone off every day for a time, and really listen to the person you are with, with not only attention but eye contact.

Para las próximas semanas, vamos a repasar los Salmos de la Misericordia. Is your prayer life in a slump? Do you pray the same way every day? Or do you find it difficult to pray at all? Would you like to learn some new prayer techniques from within our rich
Catholic tradition? Join us for a Prayer Workshop! We will talk about what prayer is and explore some specific techniques for praying that you may have never tried. We will take time to pray and to discuss our experiences. Each participant will leave with a packet of prayer ideas and a new perspective on how to spend time in God’s presence!

BECOMING CATHOLIC (RCIA): The Catholic Church has a wonderful program entitled Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults. The adults will begin meeting Wednesday, August 17th at 7:00pm in the Youth Room. These are very informal meetings, designed to answer any questions your or your family and friends may have. We are all called to evangelize our families, neighbors and friends.
If you, or someone you know, has expressed an interest in learning about the Catholic faith, or being baptized or confirmed, invite them to our meetings.
If you are Catholic, have received your sacraments, and have questions about the faith, you are also welcome. For more information, contact the Parish Office at 369-1907.

Religious Education Program Fees 2016-2017 Registration Fees
$10 Late Fee (One charge per family.) $105 for the first Student +$25 each additional Student in the immediate Family. The students must
be parents of the students or siblings to the student (must share a parent).
Additional 2nd Year Sacrament Preparation Fee
+$25 for each student receiving a Sacrament this year (Reconciliation, First Holy Communion, and Confirmation). This is to cover the additional costs that come with a Sacrament, administrative work, certificate, extra clergy, worship aids, photos, etc.
+$30 for each student receiving their sacraments of initiation the Easter Vigil. This is to cover the additional costs that come with the Vigil; Breakfast, administrative work, certificate, worship aids, photos, etc.

Costo para el Año 2016-2017 de Catecismo Costo de Registración
$10 Cargo Tarde (1 cargo de familia) $105 para el Primer Estudiante + $25 cada estudiante adicional en la familia inmediata. Los estudiantes
deben ser los padres de los alumnos o hermanos al alumno (deben compartir un padre).
Costo Adicional para Estudiantes en el Segundo Año de Preparación Sacramental
+ $25 por cada estudiante recibir un sacramento este año (reconciliación, primera comunión y confirmación). Este costo es para cubrir los costos adicionales que vienen con un Sacramento, trabajo administrativo, certificado, extra sacerdotes, programas para las Misas, fotos, etc.
+ $30 por cada estudiante a recibir los sacramentos de iniciación en la Vigilia Pascual. Esto es para cubrir los gastos adicionales asociados con la Vigilia; desayuno, trabajo administrativo, certificado, programas para la Misa, fotos, etc.
