Two shopkeepers among threenabbed with 120 pouches of liquor

STATE TIMES NEWSBHADARWAH/AKHNOOR: Police on Sunday arrestedthree persons among two shopkeepers for selling illicit liquorand recovered 120 pouches if liquor from their possessionfrom Bhadarwah and Akhnoor.

According to reports, on a specific information a policeteam led by SI Ajay Kumar Engotra laid a Naka at PulDoda and apprehended the bootlegger, while he was on wayto his native village. During checking, police recovered 38pouches of country made liquor from his possession.

The accused was identified as Sunder Singh son ofChunni Lal resident of Bhena, Gaddhi area of district Dodaand a case vide FIR No 124/2017 under section 48-A ExciseAct was registered against him at Police Station Doda.

In another incident at Akhnoor, police received an infor-mation that some shopkeepers in Naiwala area are indulgedin selling of illicit liquor Frooties (Desi whisky) in theirshops. On this information, a party of Police StationAkhnoor conducted raids at the shops and during raid 20pouches of frooties (Desi whisky) were seized fromm the pos-session of Gurvider Singh son of Sardar Singh resident ofDevipur, 24 pouches of Frooties (Desi whisky) from the pos-session of Rashpal Singh son of Kaka Singh resident ofDevipur. One person namely Amarnath son of Dewan Chandresident of of Dalpat Bhor fled away from the spot leavingbehind 38 pouches in his shop. In the way 82 pouches ofFrooties (Desi whisky) were seized fromm the possession ofthese shopkeepers which they have kept in their possessionfor the illegal sale among the peoples of the area. A case videFir No 117 /2017 under section 50 Excise Act was regis-tered against them at Police station Akhnoor.

As per the police, around 7:30 AM, one female Yatri name-ly Muni Devi (62) wife of Ram Shanker resident of DivyapurDistrict Muradabad UP, when reached near Adhkwari sud-denly became unconscious and was shifted to Adhkwari dis-pensary from where doctor referred her to CHC Katra whereshe was declared brought dead.

According to the familymember of Vikram Singh,the deceased was hospi-talised yesterday at 10:00PM and further referred toGovernment Medical Collegeand Hospital (GMCH)Jammu for specialised treat-ment at 4:00 AM on Sundaybut he died during theprocess.

Sources said that owing theshortage of specialist doctorsespecially pediatrician andsurgeon in DH Ramban dueto which deaths are verycommon in the said hospital.

Moreover, unavailability ofthese doctors forced the hos-pital authorities to refer thepatients either to Jammu orSrinagar which adds thedeath rate in districtRamban.

Later, a team of doctorsheaded by Chief MedicalOfficer (CMO) Ramban DrSaif-Ud-Din Khan of DHRamban in the presence ofTehsildar Ramban ParomodKumar conducted autopsy ofthe deceased.

According to reports, dozensof villagers gathered at KahieMohalla and Puneja villagesimultaneously onBhadarwah-Basholi NationalHighway to protest against the144 RCC of Border RoadOrganisation. While raisingslogans against the BRO, elect-ed representatives and civiladministration, they blockedhighway by erecting obstaclesand laying barbed wires acrossthe road. The protestorsalleged that due to the callousand inhuman attitude of theBRO/GREF authorities, vil-lagers have been exposed toseveral hardships for the last10 years, the residents livingalong Bhadarwah-Basoli Roadare literally living under thickblanket of dust as despite sev-eral representations, 114 RCCinstead of blacktoping the roadpassing through residential

areas have been laying bitumenin the forest and far off areasfor unknown reasons.

Rs.85 crore as TA/DA but onground level no work has beendone .Even the managementhas appointed hundreds offresh candidates from outsidethe State through backdoorwhich is a matter of great con-cern.

Mintoo also said that the cor-porate office of CVPPL hasbeen established at Jammuwhere they are paying monthlyrent of Rs.8 lakh besides havespent Rs.20 crore for construc-tion of this office at Jammuwhich huge loss to the Stateand central exchequer .

He informed that ChenabValley Power Projects PvtLimited is a joint venture ofNHPC, JKSPDC and PTCand they have taken up threehydroelectric projects viz PakalDul, Kero and Kawar in theirhands which are located inDistrict Kishtwar and theOffice of Chairman andManaging Director standsestablished at Jammu incur-ring huge expenditure onmonthly rental TA/DA of offi-cials.

STATE TIMES NEWS RAJOURI: Anti IllegalReservation Front (AIRF)on Sunday demanded sevenyears mandatory service inrural area under RBA andALC categories.

AIRF held debate inRajouri in which the mem-bers of civil society underthe presidentship of S.KMughal, a social activist,alleged large scale violationof norms laid down forappointments in govern-ment jobs under RBA andALC categories.

He said the AIRF alsodemanded Schedule Tribestatus for Rajouri andPoonch Districts so thatsome families and their chil-dren who don't fall underany reserve category, do notfeel neglected. "The youth

from the open categoriesbelonging to some Hindu,Muslim and Sikh familieshave been denied govern-ment jobs despite their highpercentage in the qualify-ing/competitive examina-tions", AIRF said.

The members alleged thatunder RBA and ALC cate-gories it is mandatory for anew appointee from RBAand ALC categories to servefor seven years in the ruralareas under governmentrules and norms. Theyalleged that many teachers,masters of these categorieshave got the promotions andappointments from RBA,ALC quota but have man-aged there postings in thecities and most of them havesettled there, due to whichpoor students of these

reserved areas have to suf-fer.

They added that underGAD guidelines any personappointed against any avail-able vacancy on the basis ofhis being a resident of back-ward area or an area adjoin-ing Line of Actual Controlshall serve in such areas fora period of not less thanseven years. It further saidthat in case the post againstwhich he has been appoint-ed is not available in sucharea, he shall be posted inthe nearest adjacent back-ward area or nearest adja-cent LAC.
