Monday June 12, 2017 4 DISTRICTS Two shopkeepers among three nabbed with 120 pouches of liquor STATE TIMES NEWS BHADARWAH/AKHNOOR: Police on Sunday arrested three persons among two shopkeepers for selling illicit liquor and recovered 120 pouches if liquor from their possession from Bhadarwah and Akhnoor. According to reports, on a specific information a police team led by SI Ajay Kumar Engotra laid a Naka at Pul Doda and apprehended the bootlegger, while he was on way to his native village. During checking, police recovered 38 pouches of country made liquor from his possession. The accused was identified as Sunder Singh son of Chunni Lal resident of Bhena, Gaddhi area of district Doda and a case vide FIR No 124/2017 under section 48-A Excise Act was registered against him at Police Station Doda. In another incident at Akhnoor, police received an infor- mation that some shopkeepers in Naiwala area are indulged in selling of illicit liquor Frooties (Desi whisky) in their shops. On this information, a party of Police Station Akhnoor conducted raids at the shops and during raid 20 pouches of frooties (Desi whisky) were seized fromm the pos- session of Gurvider Singh son of Sardar Singh resident of Devipur, 24 pouches of Frooties (Desi whisky) from the pos- session of Rashpal Singh son of Kaka Singh resident of Devipur. One person namely Amarnath son of Dewan Chand resident of of Dalpat Bhor fled away from the spot leaving behind 38 pouches in his shop. In the way 82 pouches of Frooties (Desi whisky) were seized fromm the possession of these shopkeepers which they have kept in their possession for the illegal sale among the peoples of the area. A case vide Fir No 117 /2017 under section 50 Excise Act was regis- tered against them at Police station Akhnoor. Vaishno Devi pilgrim dies STATE TIMES NEWS KATRA: A Vaishno Devi pilgrim died of cardiac arrest enroute to Shrine on Sunday. As per the police, around 7:30 AM, one female Yatri name- ly Muni Devi (62) wife of Ram Shanker resident of Divyapur District Muradabad UP, when reached near Adhkwari sud- denly became unconscious and was shifted to Adhkwari dis- pensary from where doctor referred her to CHC Katra where she was declared brought dead. STATE TIMES NEWS RAMBAN: Locals held a protest and blocked National Highway for about two hours against the death of a nine year boy Vikram Singh due to alleged negligence of doc- tor. The protesters also raised slogans against the Health Minister Bali Bhagat, hospi- tal administration besides State Government for not providing adequate health facilities in district Ramban resulting in deaths due to lack of timely treatment. Meantime, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Ramban Angrez Singh Rana alongwith Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Ramban Mushtaq Choudhary and other officers rushed to the spot. ADC intervened into the matter and ordered sus- pension of Medical Officer (MO) then on duty Dr Mohammad Iqbal besides Magisterial inquiry was also initiated in this regard. He also provided rupees ten thousand as a relief to the family of the deceased Vikram Singh son of Anchal Singh after which the protest came to an end. According to the family member of Vikram Singh, the deceased was hospi- talised yesterday at 10:00 PM and further referred to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) Jammu for specialised treat- ment at 4:00 AM on Sunday but he died during the process. Sources said that owing the shortage of specialist doctors especially pediatrician and surgeon in DH Ramban due to which deaths are very common in the said hospital. Moreover, unavailability of these doctors forced the hos- pital authorities to refer the patients either to Jammu or Srinagar which adds the death rate in district Ramban. Later, a team of doctors headed by Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Ramban Dr Saif-Ud-Din Khan of DH Ramban in the presence of Tehsildar Ramban Paromod Kumar conducted autopsy of the deceased. STATE TIMES NEWS BHADARWAH: To express their resentment over the dilly delaying tactics and alleged pathetic attitude towards the poor villagers since more than four decades, people from Qilla, Kahie, Puneja and adjoining areas of Tehsil Bhadarwah held a protest against the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) and local administration on Sunday for the worst condition of Bhadarwah-Bani-Basohli Road in the area. According to reports, dozens of villagers gathered at Kahie Mohalla and Puneja village simultaneously on Bhadarwah-Basholi National Highway to protest against the 144 RCC of Border Road Organisation. While raising slogans against the BRO, elect- ed representatives and civil administration, they blocked highway by erecting obstacles and laying barbed wires across the road. The protestors alleged that due to the callous and inhuman attitude of the BRO/GREF authorities, vil- lagers have been exposed to several hardships for the last 10 years, the residents living along Bhadarwah-Basoli Road are literally living under thick blanket of dust as despite sev- eral representations, 114 RCC instead of blacktoping the road passing through residential areas have been laying bitumen in the forest and far off areas for unknown reasons. An elderly protesting villager Liaqat Ali said that founda- tion stone of this vital road was laid in 1970 and since then, we have been helplessly waiting for its completion and to add salt to our wounds, Instead of black topping the inhabited areas, 114 RCC started laying bitu- men from middle of the forest at Guldanda area resulting in chaos for poor villagers". Due to the worst condition of the road, we have been deliberate- ly forced to live under inhuman condition as there are not only accidents but our agricultural and horticulture produce is also getting affected badly due to the thick layer of dust. "We will continue and intensify the protest unless theourir demands are met with, he added." Villagers while seeking imme- diate attention and interven- tion of Civil administration and elected representatives to save them from the mess created by BRO, alleged that besides incurring huge losses in agri- culture and horticulture due thick layer of dust on their pro- duce, dozens of Villagers, espe- cially children have fallen sick and have been diagnosed with dust pneumonia and other eye and lung diseases. Despite repeated efforts Additional Deputy Commissioner Bhadarwah, Imam Din Kichloo did not responded to the calls, however Executive Magistrate Bhadarwah Masood Ahmed, said that we have already taken up the matter with our higher ups and BRO authorties simultaneously to settle the issue amicably. "BRO has informed us that there is some dispute with the contractor resulting in inordinate delay. As of now they have sought sometime for inviting fresh ten- ders. We are hopeful to get the macadamisation process start- ed in the area soon" he main- tained. STATE TIMES NEWS SAMBA: Union Minister of State for Textiles Ajay Tamta, Minister for Industries and Commerce Chander Parkash Ganga and Member Parliament, Jammu-Poonch Constituency Jugal Kishore Sharma on Sunday visited Export Oriented Handloom Development Project at Samba and inspected the activities undertaken by J and K State Handloom Development Corporation (JKHDC) in the project. They inspected the weav- ing section, processing house, stores and testing laboratories of the project and appreciated the quality of products being manufac- tured by the corporation. Meanwhile, Union Minister Ajay Tamta stressed on encouraging more handloom products in decentralised sector by pro- viding handlooms to the artisans in the surrounding areas. Mintoo while speaking on the occasion said that the CVPPL is going to celebrate its raising day on 13th June but it is a matter of great concern that since its establishment in the year 2011 not a single brick has been laid on work sites . He said that the officers and officials of Chenab Valley Power Projects Pvt limited have so far drawn more than Rs.85 crore as TA/DA but on ground level no work has been done .Even the management has appointed hundreds of fresh candidates from outside the State through backdoor which is a matter of great con- cern. Mintoo also said that the cor- porate office of CVPPL has been established at Jammu where they are paying monthly rent of Rs.8 lakh besides have spent Rs.20 crore for construc- tion of this office at Jammu which huge loss to the State and central exchequer . He informed that Chenab Valley Power Projects Pvt Limited is a joint venture of NHPC, JKSPDC and PTC and they have taken up three hydroelectric projects viz Pakal Dul, Kero and Kawar in their hands which are located in District Kishtwar and the Office of Chairman and Managing Director stands established at Jammu incur- ring huge expenditure on monthly rental TA/DA of offi- cials. CAK urges Govt to shift corporate office of CVPPL to Kishtwar Jakheni residents crying for power supply, water STATE TIMES NEWS UDHAMPUR: Social worker Pir Gulzar Shah expressed great concern towards Electricity and PHE Departments for their utter failure to ensure regular potable water and power supply in the locality. STATE TIMES NEWS RAJOURI: Anti Illegal Reservation Front (AIRF) on Sunday demanded seven years mandatory service in rural area under RBA and ALC categories. AIRF held debate in Rajouri in which the mem- bers of civil society under the presidentship of S.K Mughal, a social activist, alleged large scale violation of norms laid down for appointments in govern- ment jobs under RBA and ALC categories. He said the AIRF also demanded Schedule Tribe status for Rajouri and Poonch Districts so that some families and their chil- dren who don't fall under any reserve category, do not feel neglected. "The youth from the open categories belonging to some Hindu, Muslim and Sikh families have been denied govern- ment jobs despite their high percentage in the qualify- ing/competitive examina- tions", AIRF said. The members alleged that under RBA and ALC cate- gories it is mandatory for a new appointee from RBA and ALC categories to serve for seven years in the rural areas under government rules and norms. They alleged that many teachers, masters of these categories have got the promotions and appointments from RBA, ALC quota but have man- aged there postings in the cities and most of them have settled there, due to which poor students of these reserved areas have to suf- fer. They added that under GAD guidelines any person appointed against any avail- able vacancy on the basis of his being a resident of back- ward area or an area adjoin- ing Line of Actual Control shall serve in such areas for a period of not less than seven years. It further said that in case the post against which he has been appoint- ed is not available in such area, he shall be posted in the nearest adjacent back- ward area or nearest adja- cent LAC. Rs.85 crore as TA/DA but onground level no work has beendone .Even the managementhas appointed hundreds offresh candidates from outsidethe State through backdoorwhich is a matter of great con-cern.

Mintoo also said that the cor-porate office of CVPPL hasbeen established at Jammuwhere they are paying monthlyrent of Rs.8 lakh besides havespent Rs.20 crore for construc-tion of this office at Jammuwhich huge loss to the Stateand central exchequer .

STATE TIMES NEWS RAJOURI: Anti IllegalReservation Front (AIRF)on Sunday demanded sevenyears mandatory service inrural area under RBA andALC categories.

AIRF held debate inRajouri in which the mem-bers of civil society underthe presidentship of S.KMughal, a social activist,alleged large scale violationof norms laid down forappointments in govern-ment jobs under RBA andALC categories.

He said the AIRF alsodemanded Schedule Tribestatus for Rajouri andPoonch Districts so thatsome families and their chil-dren who don't fall underany reserve category, do notfeel neglected. "The youth

from the open categoriesbelonging to some Hindu,Muslim and Sikh familieshave been denied govern-ment jobs despite their highpercentage in the qualify-ing/competitive examina-tions", AIRF said.

The members alleged thatunder RBA and ALC cate-gories it is mandatory for anew appointee from RBAand ALC categories to servefor seven years in the ruralareas under governmentrules and norms. Theyalleged that many teachers,masters of these categorieshave got the promotions andappointments from RBA,ALC quota but have man-aged there postings in thecities and most of them havesettled there, due to whichpoor students of these

reserved areas have to suf-fer.

They added that underGAD guidelines any personappointed against any avail-able vacancy on the basis ofhis being a resident of back-ward area or an area adjoin-ing Line of Actual Controlshall serve in such areas fora period of not less thanseven years. It further saidthat in case the post againstwhich he has been appoint-ed is not available in sucharea, he shall be posted inthe nearest adjacent back-ward area or nearest adja-cent LAC.
