Mathematical Crossword as a recreational activity, is effective in cultivating students' interest in maths and in improving their problem-solving skills. Students develop a positive change in their attitudes towards Maths. Students learn to be creative and persistent after working on many hard grid puzzles.
Printed crossword sheets, Pen and Pencil
2 Puzzles (number puzzles, missing
letter puzzles, clock and
playing cards puzzles)
Logical puzzles based on the numbers, missing letter, clock and calendar questions will be given to the students. The students will try to solve the puzzles within the given time period. In the end, the answers will be discussed by the teacher.
Puzzles are helpful to develop students’ interest in the wonders of mathematics. Puzzles and magic tricks excite students’ curiosity about various mathematical topics.
Notebooks, Pen and Pencil
3 Poster on Commercial Mathematics
Students will bring the pictures and the cuttings from newspapers, magazines or the labels from the real life items related to topics such as %, Interest, profit and loss, discounts, sales tax, VAT, Bankingetc and will make a colourful and informative poster. This activity will be done in the group of two.
Commercial Mathematics plays an important role in our lives. Through commercial mathematics, students are able to apply mathematical knowledge and skills to solve real life problems.

4 Geometry String Art Patterns
The class will be divided in the group of two students.
Pins will be put up on the
thermocole or on the cardboard piece at equal distance,
say 1 cm apart. Then the different
coloured threads will be put up along
the pins to give the different patterns.
Geometric string design helps students' internalize the concepts between math and art by focusing on symmetry of design and color, incorporating rotations, reflections in the design.
A Square piece of thermocole (or a cardboard of any old
book),Board pins,Differentcoloured
threads
5 Mathematical Newsletter
The class will be divided in the group of two students. Each group will make a newsletter comprising of latest discoveries in the field of Maths, correlation of Maths with other subjects, correlation of any two chapters within Maths, Mathematical poems & articles etc. Students can incorporate other ideas also to display their creativity.
This activity will help students to
analyze, interpret and communicate
mathematical ideas. -
A-3 size sheets, Markers, sketch pens, related cuttings and
clippings
6 Origami (snowflakes)
The children will fold the paper, give
it the cuts and then unfold it to give the desired shapes. The
procedure will be explained by the
teacher with the help of videos.
With a little imagination, this
activity will encourage students’
creativity and develop their
motor skills.
Origami sheets, scissors
7 Logical
Reasoning Questions
The students will be
given questions on coding-decoding,
numbers series, number and alphabet analogies,

The students will given the tickets containing the
answers. The teacher will ask
mathematical questions and students will solve
them and find their answers in their
respective tickets.
Mathematical Tambola is played along the lines of Tambola with a mathematical twist! This activity enhances mental mathematics.
Tickets containing answers to mathematical
questions, pens and pencils
9 Mathematical Quiz
The mathematical Quiz will be prepared by the
teacher in the form of a PPT consisting
of number of rounds such as Identify the special
numbers, the famous
mathematicians, questions based on Euler’s formula,
Rapid fire Round etc. The students
will be divided in the teams and the winning team will
be announced in the end.
Quiz is an easy way to give feedback to the teacher that whatever has been taught is leaned by the child or not. The same goes for mathematical quiz where the concepts will be recalled and comprehend by the students. Students will have fun but with a competitive element.
PPT containing different rounds of mathematical
questions.
