Peyo Yavorov Chitalishte in Haskovo was established in 1982. Main chitalishte goals include:

Strengthening civil society; supporting wide local community groups through cultural activities;

creating conditions for communication and education.

The chitalishte achieves these goals through: maintenance of a

generally accessible library; creation and maintenance of

artistic and creative ensembles, organization of cultural and

educational events.

The Library

LIBRARY INFORMATION CENTER

In May 2011, the library information center was officially opened.

For one year, the information center trained 27 chitalishte

members aged 55–83 years in basic computer skills.

The training enables elderly people to gain self-confidence and provides opportunities for communication via email and

Facebook, direct contacts with families living abroad.

The equipment provided under the Global Libraries Program enables us not only to create promotional materials for our cultural and educational events, but also to publish the Zornitsa literary almanac, children’s coloring books for Christmas and Easter and we are able to help our patrons find online materials on various topics.

The chitalishte has its own Facebook page where we publish materials on our events.

The events organized and conducted by the chitalishte focus on meeting the cultural needs of the residents of the neighborhoods it operates in.
