CRNAs provide anesthesiacare of the highest qualitythroughout Arizona.CRNAs are trained in alltypes of anesthesia forevery type of patient andsurgery.CRNAs have an impeccablerecord of safety, verified bydecades of 3rd-partyresearch.

States implementing updated language (over 20) have never reversed their decision

Updating languageincreases access

and decreasescost, while

protecting patientsafety.

CRNAs practicewith and without

anesthesiologists &are the only providersof anesthesia in many

facilities, and themajority of rural

Arizona.

According to numerousCRNAs and surgeons, anearly 94 year-old statuteregulating CRNAs createsreal problems, includingaccess to elective andemergency surgicalservices.

Outdated language does not reflect the rigorous education ofCRNAs, or their relationships with surgeons.

AZANA and Axiom Public Affairs are developinglegislation to address the concerns raised byadministrators, CRNAs, and surgeons.

Locally, Groups onthe left (AARP) andthe right (GoldwaterInstitute) supportCRNAs.

Nationally, CRNAs are supported bythe widely-respected Institute of

Medicine and Federal TradeCommission, to solve healthcare

crises and to promote safecompetition, respectively.

"I support CRNAs being able to practice to the fullest extent of their education;the term 'direction and presence' creates confusion. The laws governing thepractice of anesthesiology should reflect the modern training and background, and experience of CRNAs."

"Updating language for CRNAs in no way removes the CRNA fromthe surgical team, it enhances the team through clarity. Updated language would

allow each hospital to utilize MD or CRNA anesthesia providers as they wish."
