Primary in Tewkesbury, we Primary in Tewkesbury, we have been studying trees. have been studying trees.

We collected conkers, leaves and berries from trees around our school field. Conkers come from

horse chestnut trees. Acorns come from oak trees.

The berries come from holly bushes.

Mrs Healey took pictures of her hawthorn trees with cobwebs all over them.

We painted some leaves and printed them onto a piece of paper.

The paint showed up the veins in the leaves. These carry water and nutrients around the tree.

After the paint had dried, we looked carefully at the leaves and drew on some more veins.

We used Digi-Blu cameras to take close-up pictures of different parts of trees.

We found a caterpillar, a daddy-long-legs (a crane fly), a big spider and some ants living in the trees.

We made rubbings of the bark on the trunks of trees.

We used our five senses to write poems about trees.

At the end we put all the things we had done together to make a tree.
