Iamproudtointroducethefirsteditionof“WelcometoBaltimoreCity,aGuidetoServicesandResourcesforImmigrantsandRefugees”ThispublicationisthefirstofitskindinBaltimoreandwasproducedbytheMayor’sOfficeofImmigrantandMulticulturalAffairs(MIMA).In2014,IcreatedMIMAtoexpanduponthecity’seffortstowelcomeimmigrantsandrefugeestoBaltimore.Theguidewascreatedtohelpeducatenew-lyarrivedimmigrantsandrefugeesaboutservices,resources,andpro-gramsintheCityofBaltimore.Furthermore,theguidehasbeenmadeavailableinmultiplelanguagestobetterreachourlimitedEnglishprofi-cientconstituents.

Everyyear,BaltimoreCitywelcomesthousandsofimmigrantsandrefugees.Ournewres-identsbringawealthofcultureandresilience,andarediversifyingandstrengtheningourneigh-borhoodsandbusinesscorridors.Today’sImmigrantandRefugeeCommunitiesconstitute8%oftheCity’spopulation.Connectingournewerresidentstoservicesandresourcesthroughthisguideispartofourcontinuedcommitmenttowelcomeandintegrateimmigrantandrefugeecom-munitiestothefabricofourcity.
