Our Savior’s Wounded Body

ALL: Lord, we praise You now and forever. Yet, we confess, we often fail to give You the glory You are worthy of each day. We are selfish, we don’t always honor You above all things. There are times we don’t give You credit for the blessings in our life. Instead, we often credit ourselves for the possessions of our life. This is simply wrong since You are the Giver of all good gifts.

L: Most merciful and gracious God,

C: We confess our short comings, our failings, our sins to You.

L: Our sins of thought—

C: We have doubted your power and your promise; we have wished evil on people. We have lusted after others, we have schemed to steal from others. L: Our sins of word—

C: We have spoken in anger and in ways that are belittling; we have argued against your good and gracious will.

L: Our sins of action—

C: We have hoarded your gifts of money and talents selfishly, and have polluted our lives with poor choices.

L: We are in need of forgiveness and power to live meaningful lives.

C: Therefore, we humbly ask you, for the sake of Jesus Christ, your Son, to forgive our sins...and to fill us with his perfect goodness, that we may live as your Spirit directs us, filled with all the fullness, peace and power of God.

L: Like bread broken to be shared, Jesus Christ was given to die for you. Because of Jesus’ finished work on the cross, your sins are forgiven, every one of them. He will raise you, a Christ follower, up on the last day, and you will live forever in heaven.

C: Lord, give us this bread always! Amen.

L: Shout with joy to God, all the earth. Sing the glory of His name; make His praise glorious.

L: We rejoice in the forgiveness Jesus has won for us. His Word says, “If we confess our sins, he forgives them and cleanses us from everything we’ve done wrong”. Lord Jesus, move us by your Spirit to live in the joy and power of our forgiveness. Amen.

Mark 14:12-42 p. 706,707

Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil, for the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and forever. Amen.
