What is Excel?

Microsoft Excel is an electronic spreadsheet program that runs on

a personal computer. As with a paper spreadsheet, you can use Excel to organize your data into

rows and columns and to perform mathematical calculations.

What is a Spreadsheet?• A spreadsheet is an electronic document that

stores various types of data.  There are vertical columns and horizontal rows.  A cell is where the column and row intersect.  A cell can contain text or data or formulas which perform calculations using other cells. 

• An Excel spreadsheet (or workbook) contains one or more worksheets. Each worksheet contains a grid of cells.

Why is this type of information useful and how can it help me?

Excel allows you to create budgets & other important documents to manage data
