Addresses reading skills of students below grade level (comprehension, vocabulary, fluency)

Offers web-based differentiated reading passages based on a student’s individual lexile level (licenses required)

28,000 students who used TeenBiz 2-3 times a week tripled their expected literacy gains within a 9 month period.

Level Setting

The students go to teenbiz3000.com and log on.A level setting test appears. (adaptable)Students take the test. The computer scores the test and gives a lexile level.

Eighth Grade

Step 1

The student checks email

in TeenBiz3000.

Providing a foundation and activating prior knowledge

Step 2:

The student reads an article that is matched to reading

ability based on level setting test.

Step 3:

The student completes activities that help with

Next the student answers a thought question which

builds critical thinking and writing skills.

The student participates in a poll to encourage

formulating an opinion about the content of the

article.

Interim and Post Tests:

The student takes an interim and a post-test that again adjusts the reading level.
