NEED AND SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY

Teachers play a very important role in a student's life.

It is, to a great extent, the teachers who decide the

shape a student's life will take.

So, it is very necessary to be adequately equipped with

resources that will make the teacher a perfect role

model to the students.

To study the differences between/among the following categories of Students with reference to their

Current level knowledge on e-skills

• (a) Male and female students

• (b) Government, aided an un-aided colleges students

• (c) Science, Art and Languages subjects students

VARIABLES OF THE STUDY

I. Criterion Variables:• Current level of E-Skills Knowledge

II. Background Variables:• Gender: Male and female

• Types of institutions (Governmental /Private-aided / Private-Unaided)

• Different types of subjects (Science / Art / Language)

20

Statistical Techniques Used for Analysis of Data

• Descriptive statistics like Mean and Percentage have been employed to analyze the data descriptively.

• Independent samples ‘t’ test,

• one way ANOVA,

• and DMRT (Duncan’s Multiple Range Test)

Findings

A total of 374 Students were selected through

Stratified Random Sampling of which

143 were Male Students (38.2%)

and remaining

231 (61.8%) were Female Students.

Among e-skills current knowledge, Maximum knowledge observed for

PowerPoint (rank 1), followed by

Email (rank 2),

Word processing (rank 3), and

were observed, where Minimum knowledge was found for

LCMS (rank 13),

Statistical Software (rank 12),

Graphic Software (Rank 11) and

Digital Cameras (ranks 10).

Findings

26

A non-significant difference was observed on gender differentiation and

types of colleges revealed that there was a

non-significant difference between students in their mean e-skills knowledge scores.

Analysis results showed that there is a significantly difference among students studying in different subjects (science / art / language) in their e-skills current knowledge levels

DMRT revealed that those students studying in arts and languages

had least knowledge scores and those students who were studying in

Science stream had highest scores and language students in between

EDUCATIONAL IMPLICATIONS

Findings of this study reviled to students, faculty

members ,management of B.Ed. Colleges and educators

to expand their own knowledge and proficiency in computer knowledge, e-skills, e-learning and Internet technologies and lead to more efficient utilization.

28

EDUCATIONAL IMPLICATIONS

Based on the findings of Ranking and Hypothesis related to e-skills,

Decision makers and Heads can decide for the planning and

Designing workshops and Intensive courses for faculty members, based on

demographic variables.

EDUCATIONAL IMPLICATIONS

The findings in the present dissertation could also give Students

a better idea of themselves, etc., and they could be encouraged to take measure that would diminish their weakness e-skills knowledge.
