Overall trend in cinemaThe overall trend in cinema admissions over the past decade has been that it is quite stable. Apart from 2001 and 2006 all admissions have been above 160 million and below 180 million

• However in the long run UK admissions has decreased substantially.

AudienceIn the last 15 years there has been a decrease in 15-24 year olds and 25-34 going to the cinema. There was an increase in over 45’s going to the cinema & 35-44 increased slightly.

52% of the overall audience was male.

Where do people watch films?

• In 2012 there was £1,099,000,000 revenue at the cinema and £2,932,000,000 made in home film retailing, suggesting that most people watch film in their home.

What type of film is most popular

• These statistics suggest that the drama is the most popular genre for producers created as 20.2% of films produced were dramas. However Action had the largest share of the box office suggesting it is the most popular for audiences.
