Variety of Media

Communication to a variety of audiences, for a variety of purposes, using a variety of media is an essential life skill we must teach our students (and teachers)

Purpose- persuasion, descriptive, expository, researchBut, with new communication tools, people are communicating more than ever, especially outside of academic contexts.

Audience?

In the past, we’ve had to imagine our audience and write for these people who would never actually see our work in most cases.

Who would actually see the work in the end? The teacher (or maybe few others if the work was exceptional or really bad).

In today’s world we still have think about audience to communicate our ideas, but there is an essential difference. . .

The audience can be real and authentic! New technologies are allowing us and our students to communicate to real, global and participatory audiences who will feedback, evaluate, and encourage our work
