Your slide If your slide looks like this, I don’t want to be your friend

anymore. If you make slides like this, you are likely to be

compelled to read each and every word, exactly how it is

written on the screen. It isn’t that you are a bad person, it is

that you don’t care enough about other people to try to:

• Present your information so it will stick with them and keep

them awake while you are speaking.

• Keep from boring them to death. I tend to start doodling or

write short stories about audience members throwing things

at speakers.

• The least you could do is find a funny cat picture and stick it

in the middle somewhere. That would at least wake us up for

a few seconds. Who doesn’t like cat pictures?
