 What is Cloud for Analytics?
Cloud for Analytics, an on-demand software typically accessed by users using web browser (but not limited
to browser, can also be accessed via any handheld device, Web RDP, etc.). Cloud for Analytics combines the Software as a service (SaaS) and analytics as a service(AaaS) delivery model, the SaaS model
provides software services (ex: licensing, tools, templates, API’s, system interfaces, security, maintenance, support, etc.), the AaaS model provides pre-built analytics, templates and solutions (ex: capital planning and
forecasting, project spend vs. project benefits, vendor performance score card, etc.). Cloud for Analytics enables designing, developing, testing, delivering, securing, collaborating and maintaining analytics on
cloud, users should be able to perform these functions from anywhere and everywhere - all you need is just an internet connection and a PC/handheld device to perform these tasks. Some of the leading vendors and
their analytics products that’s are offered on cloud platform for enterprises and business users (a) SAP Lumira Cloud (b) Microsoft's Power BI (c) IBM Watson Analytics (d) Qlik Sense Cloud (e) Tableau Online
and others.

 SAP C4A Business Case
How to Choose the Best Business Case to Implement Analytics on Cloud?
C4A is not a migration or upgrade path, it’s a starting point for new cloud Analytics projects. C4A doesn’t
replace customers on premise Analytics investment: Lumira, BI Suite, BPC, Predictive, GRC. We continue to invest and innovate here. Since C4A is a new cloud for Analytics projects, the first step for
C4A project is choosing a well aligned business cases, the business case could from finance, supply chain, human resource or combination of all and others.
Most of the SAP customers are new to C4A, so it’s better to start with something small and then learn
and grow your C4A. We strongly recommend to choose a business case which is well aligned with business goals and objectives so that you can quickly measure the ROI and the business values of
C4A. The first step is choosing the more impactful business functions (Ex: Finance, Supply Chain, etc.) and Implement adoptable Analytics functions (Ex: BI, EPM, etc.)
Key Takeaways Choose the most impactful business functions to be on cloud Implement adoptable analytics functions to be on cloud

Data Access & Data Provisioning on Cloud (Contd.)
Data Provisioning Method #1 - Import Data Method, under this import method we are physically
moving data from the data source to the SAP cloud for analytics. Example, users should be able to import data on cloud from SAP BW, SAP BPC, SAP ERP, SAP BOBJ Universe, Google
Cloud, Success Factors and Files. - Data is on Cloud
Data Provisioning Method #2 - Online Data Method, under this online method we are not physically moving data from the data source to the SAP cloud for analytics. This is a virtual data access method
using SAP S/4 HANA capabilities- Data is on Premise (but data will be accessed /referenced on cloud using SAP HANA in-memory technology)
Data Accessing Method #1 - Indirect (SAP HANA Information Model) Method under this method
users should be able access the data using SAP HANA's data accessing capabilities - Example should be able to access the data from the source system such as Oracle, Microsoft, HADOOP, etc. using SAP
HANA SDA (smart data access) data accessing capabilities

Data Accessing Method #2 - Direct Access Method, under this method users should be able to
directly access the data from the source systems such as Oracle, Microsoft in this option we are not leveraging SAP HANA data accessing capabilities, we will be using source system vendor
provided/supported API's/Drivers (ex: ODBC,JDBC, etc.)
Key Takeaways and Architectural Design Consideration - Choosing right data accessing path and data provisioning method is a most critical decision that business has to make. Data provisioning on
the cloud is the foundation to built analytics on the cloud. "Based on our lessons learned in building analytics on cloud, accessing data using SAP HANA data provisioning capabilities
would be more stable and manageable and also using SAP HANA we can access data without physically importing data on cloud"

Planning, Forecasting, Budgeting and Allocation on Cloud
Within an enterprise software space, SAP cloud for analytics is the first platform in the globe which
combines both the BI and EPM solutions together as a single solution on cloud. It empowers business with simplification, data sets (actual, plan, forecast, budget), planning functions and analytics. From
planning perspective, business users should be able to plan, forecast and budget for any business functions at any level, for example
1. Sales Planning at SKU Level
2. Gross Margin Planning at SKU Level3. Opportunities Planning at SKU level
4. S&OP Planning at Product Level5. Labor Forecast at Cost Center Level
6. Liquidity Planning at Entity Location Level7. Budget Allocation at Cost Element Level
… So, business should be able to implement any type of planning, forecasting and budgeting on cloud - there is no limitation but users’ needs to know “how to implement
this on cloud”

 Modeling on Cloud
What is Models and How to Design, Develop, Test and Deploy Models on the Cloud?
Models are the foundation for Cloud for Analytics, a well aligned Model enables optimal design to
implement analytics. Model connects your problem statement and your strategic goals and objectives to your data sets such as dimensions, key figures and measures. Having a common model for planning,
forecasting, budgeting and analytics empowers business to quickly realize the measurable variances on your operations along with your strategic goals and objectives measures. Models are created on top
of your data source, your data source could SAP, non SAP, file, HADOOP, machine and sensor. On the model, you can either reference (in-memory) data from a data source and/or you can import the data
for analytics.

 File Management on Cloud
What are the Core Capabilities for SAP Cloud for Analytics “Files” Functionality?Even though we work on cloud, as a user we should have an option to export and import data using files. SAP cloud for analytics file management (called “Files”) future allows business users to seamlessly bring any local
and external (both on cloud and on premise) files into the cloud development environment. Also, users should be able to collect data in the form of “data input form
File Sharing and Collaboration: SAP cloud for analytics file management function allows users to share files
with others either in a private mode or in a public mode and collaborate with other users.
Working Offline: As especially during planning or budgeting or forecasting cycle, the planning, budgeting and forecasting users should be able to leverage this file management future to upload their offline work such as
offline planning/forecasting/budgeting excel file (“data input form”) to the cloud infrastructure.

 Data Source Connectivity on Cloud
Under What Option Users Should be able to Establish Connection to Either an on Cloud Data Source or an on Premise Data Source?
SAP Cloud for Analytics “Connection” functionality is one most critical area to address while
designing and architecting either a planning or an analytics solution. I had already addressed the connection related details under the data provisioning and data access section – kindly refer my
previous section for more deeper insights There are two key important points to consider while defining the data source connection, (1) where you wanted to keep your data for analytics
(ex: On Cloud or On Premise)? , (2) where you wanted to store your planning data (ex: On Cloud or On Premise)?
Data on Premise: if you wanted to keep your data on premise, then use “Live” data
connection option. Under these options, data will be referenced as an in-memory object on cloud.
Data on Cloud: if you wanted to keep your data on cloud, then use “Import” data connection option. Under these options, data will be referenced as an in-memory object on cloud.
SAP HANA capabilities plays a significant role in both the options - Data on Premise and Data on Cloud- so, architecting SAP HANA capabilities along with SAP cloud for analytics is
the key for implementing critical data management functionalities

 System Administration on Cloud
How to Monitor System Usage (Pay by Usage) and also Manage System Resources on Cloud?
The SAP Cloud for Analytics “System” functionality allows users to manage the system
usage and also users should be able to administer the system configuration. The system usage function will track the system usage by user, including data access,
memory usage, and system up time, etc. Technically the system usage has direct connection with your licensing agreement with SAP.
The administration functionality allows system administrators to configure and manage
the system configuration such as host, port, job, content, etc.
In real-world, business has to appoint someone for this role as a dedicated resource, and this role expected to know system and application interoperability, security and
ability to install and configure systems on the cloud.

My POV on the Future of SAP Cloud for Analytics
Cloud for Analytics a Single Platform:
Based on my observations on industry trends, business priorities and CIO’s spending patterns, I strongly
believe that the SAP cloud for analytics will play a significant role in the future IT portfolio. Also, the data & analytics landscape will be a much more simplified landscape and it will be deployed as a centralized single
landscape regardless of the tools, technologies and vendor solutions that has been currently used.
Cloud for Analytics an Integrated Solutions:
SAP S/4 HANA brings transactions and analytics together on a single platform, combining the power of SAP
cloud for analytics with SAP S/4 HANA, business should be able to deliver any BI and EPM solution an integrated solution to analyze the operational efficiency while predicting the future.
