How to Search for Texas Newspaper Articles in LexisNexis Academic

Go to the “Articles” page of the SILC 4315 course guide

Next, click the “LexisNexis Academic” link to access the database.

Once in LexisNexis, go to the “Source Directory” section and click the “Browse” link

In the “Filter by” section change the Country field to “United States”

A new “All Regions” field option will appear. Use the dropdown box to select “Texas”

In the Topics dropdown box, choose “General News Sources”

In the “Publication Type” section, click the “Newspapers” folder icon

Select the checkboxes next to The Austin American Statesman and El Paso Times (Texas)

Click “OK-Continue”

Enter your search terms and then click the “Search” button

If you prefer to see the most recently published articles, change the “Sort” option from “Relevance” to “Newest to Oldest”

Click any hyperlinked title to view an article’s contents
