Youth Talk 2016 Bronx Academy of Letters

We were asked the question … “ How can YOU help your community?

We figured out that Bronx teens need to be AWARE of conflicts they encounter everyday such as teen pregnancy, bullying, and police brutality that have been spoken about globally in order to ADDRESS these conflicts.

So it began … From in class to lunch time...

A simple school project ...Turned into one of the most informative days for most students at Bronx Letters.

We weren't the only ones who participated. Non profit organizations that revolve around teen pregnancy, women's health and social justice were a big help.

While revolving our project around 3 key controversial issues, we were able to inform Bronx teens from 6-12th grade on these topics and how to address them properly..

Reflection From the first day of our Skype session, our class was unsure of what to expect. The last thing we thought that could be a “take-away” from this project is that the same conflicts that affect you in small ways affect others on the other side of the world. Although there are differences from a local to international level on these issues, two things they all have in common is: Lack of awareness and the addressing of issues that as teens we notice, yet we do not hear of by world leaders. It's our responsibility as young adults to advocate on real issues that affect small communities and teens globally.

Thank you
