• In the tradition of the Impressionists, choose a scene that represents MODERN life via one or more of the following:– City life– Life in the country– People of the working class– People of the privileged class– Remember, the Impressionists often painted a

fleeting moment in time; they showed us what life was like for a split second of their own day.

• Use the following to emulate Impressionist style:– Paint– Short, broken brushstrokes– Sketchy technique (will look unfinished)– Unblended colors (do NOT blend the pastels with

your fingers or with tissues!!!)– Focus on lights and shadows• Is it natural light (outdoors) or artificial light (indoors)?
