Hero’s Journey:Lost In Translation
By: Avalon
I am not the hero of others dreams. I am who I am and that is all I was ever meant to be…the hero of my dreams.
The most memorable symbols of a journey can get mixed up in
time!
What does a 17-year-old track star have in common with a legendary king from Britain? Anything at all? Well you might be shocked at how close they really are to each other…
?
Thesis
Each hero’s life can be somewhat changed when their mission or journey is told differently. How can the symbols in a classic and contemporary story be so different, but in other ways so much
alike?
The 411 on Arthur Pendragon
Arthur Pendragon…never heard of him? He was a legendary king who lived
during the 6th century. His story started at fifteen by being
the only person to pull a sword out of the stone. Along with the help of Merlin, Lancelot, Guinevere and the Knights of the round table Arthur achieved many things.
His conquests and metamorphosis have influenced art and literature for centuries.
Who is Elaine?
Elaine in the old classic story committed suicide because of Lancelot and Guinevere’s betrayal. She told her father to send her down on a boat with a lily and a letter to Lancelot.
Elaine in the new story is the Heroine. Instead of falling in love with Lance she falls in love with Will (Arthur). She despises Lance here because of his sneaking around with Gwen. She saves Will from Marco in the final battle.

Elaine’s Death Bed/Floatation Device
In the original story her death bed is a boat in which she floats to Camelot
Nickname is given: Lily Maid
In Avalon High it is a raft in which she floats on during the summer.
Pride Winn/Prydwyn
How can these two important things be so different, yet so close together?
Excalibur
In the legend Excalibur is the sword that Arthur pulls out of a rock at fifteen years old.
He is only person able to achieve this feat
In Avalon High Excalibur is represented with an old sword.
It is used to scare Marco from shooting Arthur
The Return
Each story is tied up exactly the same way!
After Arthur’s final battle he soon after dies Centuries later the inscription
is found “Here lies buried the
famous King Arthur, in the island of Avalonia”
After Elaine’s final battle her last words to the reader are “…in the legend of
Camelot, the Lady of the Lake didn’t just bring Arthur his sword but she brought him home. To Avalon.”
Final Questions Do you think that
Arthur really died in the final battle?
What happens to Will and Elaine now?
The End?
There i s no rea l end to e i ther s to ry. I t i s fo r you the reader to th ink about !
Have Fun !
