It was on Monday, 22nd Sep 2003 in Lunel, a small town in Southern France

Gist SWEPT AWAY

During flood in Lunel, Celine and Serge stepped out into the street .

Celine fell into a manhole. Serge tried to save her but in vain. For five hours Celine had been in the

drainage and strived to survive.She came out alive.Celine’s determination to live for her

daughter gave her the will power to survive..

Celine stepped over a low hedge

She disappeared below the water

Serge followed close behind her and saw her fall

“All they’ll find is her body later”

Feeling his grasp, but his hands slipped away

Swept under water

Swallowing mouthfuls of filthy water

“I'm going to die.”

“I’m drowning.”

“There’s no way I can survive this.”

“I've got to keep myself as high out of the water as I can”

“All this water has to got to get somewhere.”

“I’m out side , I’m outside.”

Celine “Have I been down here for 5 hours?”

Celine’s hair was wet and bedraggled Her face was battered

After 8 pm Serge arrived at Lunel fire station

“No, calm down, You’ve got to get out of the river.”

“When I want something I’m very determined.”

“I want to be there for my daughter and for Serge.”
