Using Encore
Finding library stuff in the 21st Century
Encore
No need to distinguish between author, title, or subject
Uses ‘tags’ (which are similar to keywords) Can add your own “tags” Sorts results Suggests alternate searches
Example: Author’s last name and one word from the title
Example: TopicNarrow by
where the words are found,
format, collection, location,
language or date

Logging in or signing in
You can log in or sign in to your account Click on “Login” in the upper right hand
corner: enter your library card and “pin” (usually the last four digits of your phone)
Puts your “home library” results at the top of the list
You can put your name on the waiting list You can add tags

Placing a hold
If looking for only one book, click on “Request it”
Your home library will be at the top of the list of libraries (if you are logged in)
You can change the pick up location to another library if you wish

Click on the down arrow to get a list of libraries to
choose from…your home library will be automatically
filled in.
Using the Cart
Use if you’d like to send a list of books to an email account
Click on “Add to Cart” for each of your selections
Click on the cart in the upper right hand corner
Fill in the email address and a subject for the email

Enter the email address and subject
Click here when done
What are Tags?
Tags are added by other users They help describe the item You can use them to narrow your search You can add tags, too!
Sign into your account Click on the title of the item, or click on “more
info” Click on “Add a Tag”

Add your tag in the Community tag box
