In order to realiseanalysis of RX of quality,
only is necessary to obtain a good pellet. That procedure is easy
with a good press.
Pellet must satisfy two requirements, must be stable and reproducible.
EQP-100Equilab Press
In order to make analysis of RX of quality the pellets must have a suitable pressing providing the most smoothest possible surface.
The correct pressing of the pellets allows that X-rays can refract of appropriate way, sending to the receiver of rx representative
information of the sample to analyze.

GAS OCLUSSIONS
Certain types of substances are noted to outgas and collect into pockets or fill any prexisting voids in between the sample particles. If the gas is not allowed to diffuse under briquetting pressure it is
reduced in size and potentially pressurized. During decompression, any entraped gas tends to abruptly expand and create fissures on the sample surface in the process, or even mildly explode when
subject to analysis in an evacuated environment.
Press EQP-100 is specially designed to help us to obtain the best results in the elaboration of our pellets. Of a robust and extremely
resistant design it is functionally simple and very effective, and is the unique one of the market that offers up to five programs of work with a simple or double cycle. This alternative allows us to program the press so that it applies pressure until in two occasions in a same
process, offering us the possibility of digitally regulating the time and the pressure, and the lapse of time passed between each pressed
cycle, this time is necessary, in some cases, so that the sample can bleed occluided gases. These gases are, generally, the causes of
irregularities or fissures in the tablets.
MOISTURE ON SAMPLE
Atention:
Samples must be dry before realising the pressing. The effect produced by a moisture in the sample is similar to the
generated by ocludded gases - appearance of cracks or breakage in the surface -.
Each element emits a characteristic fluorescent radiation.
SOLUTIONS
- Pellets cups. Cups facilitate the compaction preventing the segregation of the sample- Pressing double cycle. Facilitates the occluded gas elimination.- Drying of the sample. Moisture elimination (105ºC).
ADDITIVES- Stearic acid (wax). The wax usually is the more used
binder. Obtaining a good result with the majority of the samples. Usually is mixed with the sample during the process of milling in a proportion among 10 and 20%.
- Boric acid. Is very resistant to the heat and very abrasive. It is used mainly with samples that have tendency to be fused during the milling process. Usually it is mixed with the sample during the process of milling in a proportion among 10 and 20%.
- Elvacite. Polymer that allows to make very stable samples across the time.
Equilab Press EQP-100 can process all type of samples, from very low to high levels of hardness.
