Heavy Statistics on Obesity - Obesity Facts Presentation

Preview:

DESCRIPTION

The heavy statistics on obesity given in this presentation are truly worrying. The NHS is spending billions on bad health issues that are directly caused by obesity. Obesity in children is also on the rise and doesn't look to be dropping any time soon although the government are now acting on ways to tackle the obesity in children. The presentation also gives an insight into how the UK measures up against the rest of Europe in the fight against obesity. Unfortunately though, the figures don't look great. MORTALITY RATE vs BMI

There is much evidence which demonstrates that obesity measured by either BMI or waist circumference is a good predictor of an individual’s risk of death.

Higher risks of death can be seen in the lower (underweight) and upper (obese)BMI categories than in the middle categories. As you can see from the

illustration, adults with a high BMI have the highest risk of death of all the categories.
