1. Plantar warts are viral skin infections.

2. Plantar warts are caused by the Human Papilloma Virus (HPV).

3. Plantar warts are usually caused by HPV types 1, 2, 3 and 4.

4. Plantar warts can affect all age groups and are transmitted by direct as well as indirect contact.

5. Auto inoculation of plantar warts can also occur.

6. Predisposing factors for developing plantar warts include wounds which disrupt the skin’s epithelial barrier.

7. Hyperhidrosis or excessive sweating of the feet is associated with widespread warts.

8. Symptoms of plantar warts include rough swellings on the soles of their feet.

9. Plantar warts are usually painless.
