MY MARROW MATTERS INITIATIVE

Sponsored by

The My Marrow Matters Initiative was created to give patients a way to help fight their disease. Additionally, it gives their doctors a way to advance pre-clinical disease research.

According to the National Cancer Institute, “the lack of highly characterized biospecimens is the #1 barrier to the advancement of new therapies.”

The My Marrow Initiative addresses this issue.

Participation is straightforward; any patient that is having a bone aspiration performed as standard of care will qualify to participate in the program.

The leftover aspirate is vital to drug development, and many patients prefer to donate the marrow for use in research rather than have it discarded as medical waste.

With over 15,000 patients and a 94% consent

rate , we have seen overwhelming patient support and participation in our studies. Patients understand the need for earlier diagnostics and better treatments. All specimens are collected during existing procedures meaning there are no additional risks to your patients.

Samples are used to:

Create early stage diagnostic tests to identify gene mutations before a disease progresses to a later stage.

Identify new gene targets to understand how diseases progress and create better methods to administer drugs.

Test drug compound toxicity in human cells to confirm or rule out dosage long before a patient is involved.

Because patients are waiting…™

FFPE blocks, blood, bone marrow aspirates, and/or tissues biospecimens are needed in research today!
