6 helpful hints to avoid small talk SNAFUs

The keys to successful small

talk are quite simple.

Six Simple Steps

Ask1

Poignant questions get people talking about themselves – who doesn't love talking about themselves and how important they and their lives are.

Listen2

Ask follow-up questions and refer to the earlier conversations to when following-up later.

Focus3

Be present in the conversation and don't let your mind drift while the person is speaking.

Look4

Convey confidence with eye contact and let the speaker know you're listening and it also makes you memorable when you follow-up.

Nod5

Let the speaker know you are paying attention.

Exit Stage Left6

When the conversation becomes uncomfortable, it's alright to politely disagree with the speaker.
