Staging notes: Coming from both a stand-up comedy and corporate direct and social media marketing background, I will combine comedy and a social media presentation. The stage will be set with a flip chart (with key points and funny graphs) on a stand while the full presentation will be projected as a PowerPoint overhead. As I enter with a bejeweled riding crop, I will tease a couple audience members to get their attention and make the point that social media should touch and surprise. As I go through the presentation, I will wind up and whack the flip chart, using the riding crop for surprise and comic effect. The PowerPoint presentation will be updated with the latest social media news for March 2016.
Social media lets you touch and surprise your audience

• Fab.com got happy buyers to spread the word of their cool products and grew, grew, grew -- too fast.
• 50 Shades of Grey became a small-press best-seller through social media, prompting a bidding war, sale to Random House and mega sales.

Twitter Don’ts
1. Over tweet: One tweet an hour is maximum for most. If you have very active users, you can do more.
2. Don’t focus only on most popular: Top influencers are already busy. Look for influencers in your niche area.
3. Don’t just retweet: Add your own comment to the tweet.
4. Over hashtag: Some experts say no more than 2 hashtags. Let’s face it - not fun to read a list of hashtags.
