QUILTED PORTRAITS

Design your pattern on 8 ½ x 11 paper. Use an 8” square with a ¼” seam allowance. Number your pattern pieces. Copy 16 times.

Cut 16 8” squares of

fabric—contrasting colors

and patterns. Iron fusible interfacing on

the back of each fabric

square.

Peel the paper off, leaving the glue on the fabric.

Pin the 16 patterns onto

the 16 fabric squares

Cut out all of your

puzzle pieces.

Remove paper pattern

pieces.

Organize all of your puzzle

pieces onto the 16 8”

squares of muslin.

Iron all of your blocks,

so that the pieces are

fused to the muslin.

On your sewing machine,

do a satin stitch around all

of the shapes. (With Stitch

and Tear underneath)

Arrange the 16 blocks of

your quilt top.

Sew borders to the

edges.
