Welcome to the tutorial for Audacity

Audacity is a powerful tool for recording and editing

audio

Go to http://audacity.sourceforge.

net/download

Audacity download supports Windows, Mac OS X,

Linux operating systems

Next, download Audacity, click your preferred

version

Click “Next” button continuously to finish the installation

Once you’ve done with installation,

you will see the audacity box

Click “edit” button,and choose preferences

For new users to the world of sound editing,

Choose

Audacity

default

settings

Devices-

Interface, choose

Windows Direct sound

For Playback,

Choose the built-in default sound card in your computer

Speaker (High Definition

Audio device)

For recording

device,

Choose built-in default sound card in your computer

Microphone (High Definition Audio

Device)

For channels choose 2(stereo))

It is better

than

1(Mono)

For Default Sample Rate,

Choose 44100Hz

This is the standard/default

for recording

Directories, choose folder

where recordings will be

store

Now let’s give it a try

Be sure that the

necessary microphone

is set up

If you’ve made mistakes, you could

edit them out

Importing an audio file

There are many ways

to import an audio file

Let’s do the drag and drop method

On Windows and on Macintosh

∙Drag and drop the file in to the Audacity window.

This is equivalent to

File > Import >

Audio.

∙Drag and drop a file onto

audacity icon

This is equivalent to File > Open.

Audacity can import WAV, AIFF, AU, IRCAM, MP3 and OGG files.

Select region of the waveform which contains only noise

Click Effect > Noise Removal

Get Noise Profile

The Noise Removal window will disappear, this is normal.

Removing the

Noise

Change the pitch and

speed of the tracks,

Cut, Copy, splice or

Mix sounds together.

Incorporate fade ins and fade outs

And add

effects such as echo, phaser, wahwah,

and reverse
