Where there is no vision from God, the people run wild, but those who

adhere to God’s instruction know genuine happiness. (Proverbs 29:18 – Voice)

VISIONThe ability to see,

something you imagine, a picture in

your mind and heart

“Vision without traction is merely hallucination.”

(Gino Wickman)

GETTING STUCK THE STORY OF JOSEPH

Reuben then said, “Do not put him to death. Throw him into this

hole here in the desert. But do not lay a hand on him.” . . . So

when Joseph came to his brothers, they tore off his coat . . .

And they took him and threw him into the hole. The hole was empty

and had no water in it. (Genesis 37:21-24 – New Life Version)

WHY YOU NEED SOME TRACTION

IN YOUR LIFE

UNDERSTANDING TRACTION

1. The power that is used to pull something forward

2. A way of treating broken bones in which a device gently pulls the

bones back into place

3. The support or interest that is needed for

something to succeed or make progress

You need traction when you’re stuck

FRUSTRATION

I was sliding down into the pit of death, and he pulled me out.He brought me up out of the

mud and dirt. (Psalm 40:2 – New International Reader’s Version)

I waited and waited and waited for GOD. At last he looked; finally he listened. He lifted me out of the

ditch, pulled me from deep mud. (Psalm 40:2 – The Message)

You need traction when you’re broken

PAIN

He reached down and drew me from the deep, dark hole where

I was stranded, mired in the muck and clay.

(Psalm 40:2 – Voice)

He brought me up out of a horrible pit [a place of tumult and

of destruction], out of the miry clay . . . (Psalm 40:2 – Amplified Bible)

You need traction when you’re hopeless

FEAR

He brought me up also out of the pit of hopelessness,

out of the miry clay(Psalm 40:2 – Jubilee Bible)

He lifted me out of the pit of despair, out of the mud and the mire.

(Psalm 40:2 – New Living Translation)

HOW YOU GET SOME TRACTION

IN YOUR LIFE

I waited patiently for God to help me; then he listened and heard my cry. He lifted me out of the pit of despair, out from the bog

and the mire, and set my feet on a hard, firm path, and steadied

me as I walked along.

He has given me a new song to sing, of praises to our God.

Now many will hear of the glorious things he did for me, and stand in awe before the Lord, and put

their trust in him. (Psalm 40:1-2 – Living Bible)

Whenever I’m stuck, broken or hopeless, I have to trust God
