FIBONACCI NUMBERSThese numbers are part of the Fibonacci numbering sequence, a pattern made popular around A.D. 1200 by Leonardo Pisa (historically known as Fibonacci).

THROUGHOUT ALL OF NATUREThis numbering pattern reveals itself in various ways throughout all of nature, as we shall see.

The sequence of these numbers is: 0,1,2,3,5,8,13,21,34,55,89,144,233, ad infinitum.

FIBONACCI NUMBERS

THE SEQUENCE OF NATUREEach succeeding number is the sum of the two preceding numbers.

INDIAN MATHEMATICS In 1202 AD Fibonacci’s book, Liber Abaci, introduced the sequence to Western European mathematics although the sequence had been described earlier in Indian mathematics.

The Fibonacci sequence appears in Indian mathematics, in connection with Sanskrit prosody.

Prosody is the rhythmic and intonational aspect of the Sanskrit language and that goes back as far as 1500 BC.

Pingala (पि�ङ्गल) is the traditional name of the author of the Chandaḥśāstra, the earliest known Sanskrit treatise on prosody. (200BC)

Nothing is known about Piṅgala himself.

DIVINE RATIO (1.618 & 0.618)When the smaller number of this

pattern is divided into the larger number adjacent to it, the ratio will be approximately 1.618;

if the larger one adjacent to it divides the smaller number, the ratio is very close to 0.618.

This ratio is the most efficient of similar series of numbers.

GOLDEN RATIOThe golden section is a line segment divided according to the golden ratio: The total length a + b is to the length of the longer segment a as the length of a is to the length of the shorter segment b.

GOLDEN RECTANGLE

The face is characterized, in terms of aesthetics, through some several main dimensions: the main distance between the eyes, the distance between the mouth and the eyes and the

distance between the nose and eyes, and the size of the mouth. The aesthetics is considered to be even more pleasing to the eye as these dimensions better meet the Fibonacci sequence.

RATIOS

Human hand has 5 fingers, each finger with 3 phalanges, separated by 2 joints.(in sequence) The average size of phalanges are: 2 cm, 3 cm, 5 cm and the average size of the bone of the hand is 8 cm.

Why did the Greek sculptors and others in ancient Greece and Egypt often use this ratio in designing many of their works of art? Because this ratio has been found to be remarkably pleasing to the human eye, it produces the Golden Rectangle.

This rectangular shape was close to the pattern used in the designing of the Parthenon of Greece and for many of the numerous pictures, vases, doorways, windows, statues, etc.

PYRAMIDS The Great Pyramid of Giza is remarkably close to a "golden pyramid". Several other Egyptian pyramids are very close to the rational 3:4:5 shape. Relation to Orion’s Belt.

Many of the things you use are patterned after the golden rectangle — credit cards, playing cards, postcards, light switch plates, writing pads, 3-by-5 and 5-by-8 cards, etc.

DIVINE ARRANGEMENTAn area of great interest is the occurrence of Fibonacci numbers in the spiral arrangement of leaves around a plant’s stem (called phyllotaxis).

MAXIMUM SUN EXPOSUREWhy did God arrange them this way? This pattern assures that each leaf will receive its maximum exposure to sunlight and air without shading or crowding other leaves.

GOLDEN SPIRALThis spiral is visible in things as diverse as: hurricanes, spiral seeds, the cochlea of the human ear, ram’s horn, sea-horse tail, growing fern leaves, DNA molecule, waves

breaking on the beach, tornados, galaxies, the tail of a comet as it winds around the sun, whirlpools, seed patterns of sunflowers, daisies, dandelions, and in the the ears of most mammals.

When we realize that the information to produce these spirals and numbers in living things is stored in the DNA, should we then be surprised to find that DNA is 21 angstroms in

width and the length of one full turn in its spiral is 34 angstroms, both Fibonacci numbers? The DNA molecule is literally one long stack of golden rectangles.

Fibonacci numbers are considered to be actually the counting system of nature, a measure of Divinity.

In 2003, Volkmar and Harald Weiss concluded that the golden ratio underlies the clock cycle of brain waves.  In 2008 this was empirically confirmed by a group of neurobiologists.

GOLDEN RATIO IN MUSICMany works of Chopin, are formally based on the golden ratio.

Recently, Sanskrit also made an appearance in Western pop music in two recordings by Madonna.

Composer John Williams featured choirs singing in Sanskrit for ”Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom” and in Star Wars Episode I: “The Phantom Menace”.

GOLDEN RATIO IN FINANCE The golden ratio and related numbers are used in the financial markets. It is used in trading algorithms, applications and strategies.

FINANCIAL MARKETS Some typical forms include: the Fibonacci fan, the Fibonacci arc, Fibonacci retracement and the Fibonacci time extension.

ORBITS In the area of very large phenomena when the time period of each planet’s revolution around the sun is compared in round numbers to the one adjacent to it,

PLANETS AND PLANTS their fractions are Fibonacci numbers! Beginning with Neptune and moving inward toward the sun, the ratios are 1/2, 1/3, 2/5, 3/8, 5/13, 8/21, 13/34. These are the same as the spiral arrangement of leaves on plants!
