Electroluminescence - The Past, Present And Future

Preview:

DESCRIPTION

This slideshow is the history of Electroluminescent Lighting and the various applications, which include EL Wire, EL Tape, EL Paint, Elastolite, and Electroluminescent Panels. The presentation was given to an audience at the Ellumiglow.com workshop in August, 2014. More information can be found by going to http://www.ellumiglow.com.

History Of EL

The Past

Discovered in 1907

Henry Joseph Round reported yellow light was emitted when a current passed through a silicon carbide detector.

Mid-Late 1930’s

First report published on the emission of light from zinc sulfide powders after applying an electrical charge.

1950’s

GTE Sylvania makes first EL Light (Nite-Lite) called Panelescent

1980s/90sChrisopher King (Beaverton, OR) developed EL Displays

at Planar Systems
