In what ways does

your media product

use, develop or

challenge forms and

conventions of real

media products?

GenreThe genre of my magazine is

rock/folk music.

In my magazine, I use the

standard conventions of

rock/folk music . The

colour scheme, for

example, of the magazine

also reinforces the

conventions of the music

genre, using mainly black

and red.

I have also used the conventional

design of a magazine front cover. The

design of my front page is what the

audience would expect to see on the

front of magazine, for example, the main

image is a medium close up, with a

direct gaze. Design

The masthead is another

example of how I have used

magazine conventions. The

masthead is at the top of the

page in a bold, easy to read

font in order for the audience

to instantly recognise it.

The layout and structure of the

contents page in my magazine is

also conventional as it allows the

audience to clearly see where the

articles in the magazine are. It also

has a ‘regulars’ and a ‘features’

column to show which articles will

appear regularly in the magazine

and what will only, perhaps appear

in this issue.

The double-page spread interview is again, another example of my use of conventional magazine design. I have use one whole page to show an image of the artist that is being interviewed and on that image is a pull quote. This gives the reader a brief insight into the interview in the hope it attracts them to read the whole interview.
